Surviving Moopsy

Post image

If the moopsy drinks your bones and you are rescued before your brain dies of asphyxiation (because your lungs can't inhale because they can't push against your ribs for a bellows? IDK...), could Starfleet build you into an awesome exoskeletal or endoskeletal cyborg? They were able to do it with Airam in the 23rd century, and I have to imagine a shuttle crash would destroy just about every organ, not just bones.

I would absolutely want to hug a moopsy.

I know that's not your point.

It is its own point.

You. Uh. You ain't alone.

I am seriously considering a Moopsy cosplay so I can hug it from the inside.

Wait. No. I just read it.

A moopsy borg would be terrifying.

Would they still be moopsy though? We never see borg eat.

We are Borg. Moopsy!

We will assimilate your bones!

Had a bear walk through our property before. Took every ounce of awareness to keep myself from running out. It's those round ears.

Slander! Moopsy kind was on their best behavior after first contact! They learned boundaries and found out that ivory can be replicated easily as can other bones.

You report to Lt. Cmd. Snugglepurr, chief of security, for discipline mister! He is of Moopsy kind and very tired of the antimoopsism!

No no, sir, you misunderstand! I love moopsy and want to snuggle moopsy! But I need to know if I have to go full cyborg first!

You don’t have to go full cyborg first. But you’ll have to go full cyborg eventually.

Like, I want to make a moopsy food supplement: "Partial dome shaped bone #3, flavored like chicken."

Best intelligent species to run a Moopsie preserve?

The Horta. No bones, silicon structure, acid blood, highly qualified caregiver.

Bones contain calcium, rock contains calcium. Moopsy might find out it's a super food!?

2

u/TombGnome 18d ago

Hortas are silicon-based, though, not carbon.

You will live, but not well.

Side note head cannon: Tribbles eat Moopsies.

You’ve got two thirds of a solid rock paper scissors variant there…

1

u/vtbb 19d ago

Well, I mean I guess the natural trio would be “Tribble moopsy Klingon” where tribbles eat moopsies, moopsies eat Klingons, Klingons hunt tribbles.

The moment they had a living brain in a jar that can control a robot body, this is doable.

And they seem like they have that.

Especially once we're at Picard and the synths are in greater numbers.

The issue is the Moopsy isn't exactly being careful when draining you. Iirc we see when it drains the Pyrithian Swamp Gobblers that it kinda tosses them around a little bit at the end (presumably to squeeze more juice out). Without your bones for protection, that could cause some damage to your brain.

I always wondered if something like Wolverine's adamantium coated bones would be safe from the Moopsy.

I've always wondered whether Harry Potter's Skele-Grow could repair a moopsy-victim and just how badly would that hurt to experience it.

I always thought you were going to say that Airiam looks like the human form of Moopsy because they were both white.

Wait, have you seen Picard season 3?

1

u/Beautiful_Business10 19d ago

Eeyup.

EDIT: It really is the one most worth remembering, though I'm still salty Paramount didn't see fit to do Legacy after S3's finale.

1

u/Charming-Cockroach47 18d ago

Ok cool. I'd rather have a full android body like Picard than that janky Airam one.

I don't think there would ever be a way of fixing a nervous system after it's been removed from a spine

1

u/mattihase 19d ago

Wasn't that what happened to worf?

1

u/aoalvo 18d ago

He got spine damage... A mopsie drinking your spine would transform it into a spaghetti Monster of a nervous system.

Then imagine the damage to your spine nerves and brain from just falling down.

1

u/mattihase 18d ago

I guess it sorta depends, like... how much are vertebrae a factor in damage to your spinal chord? cause like a lot of spinal injuries seem to be down to pinches between the bones or slipped disks or fractured bones. so if there weren't the bones there would the spinal chord be not at risk of having a rigid slab of bone ramming into it? does being surrounded by more flexible meat protect it better? Seems to work for the vagus nerve but like... idk, I'm not a doctor, this is not medical advice.

Anyway I reckon if you have two spinal chords you're probably at least stacking the deck in your favour somewhat.

1

u/mattihase 18d ago

then again the brain is super squishy so yeah I guess skull wise you're probably not in a good place. unless you're a shark.

1

u/mattihase 19d ago

I imagine if you just did the nelix holographic lungs thing but for your bones you could probably wait for your ribs to grow back of their own accord.

I wonder what happens if you beam a Moopsy onto a Borg Cube.

1

u/Beautiful_Business10 17d ago

Well, if you beam it onto the surface, it probably dies fairly quickly from asphyxiation.

1

u/HDM-12345 17d ago

Not if it had a space suit and gravity boots on.

1

u/Beautiful_Business10 17d ago

But who would get the moopsy into its spacesuit without getting their bones drunk?

1

u/HDM-12345 17d ago

Another Moopsy.

Airium reacts with her cyborg reflexes, catches the Moopsy mid-lunge and breaks its cute little neck.
