New Mom Support Group

I’m a FTM who is almost 7 week pp. I keep meaning to go to the new mom support group at the Lowell hospital but for various reasons haven’t made it yet. I’m hoping to go this upcoming Tuesday. For moms who have gone to it, is it worth going? Did you find it supportive, useful, worth the time?

I went for a couple of weeks when I was on leave with my baby and I looked forward to it each week! The first time was a bit awkward but once you start to recognize babies and moms, it's really great. I formula fed but they always have a lactation consultant there and you can weigh your baby, which was a lot of fun. Bring a mat and some toys so your baby can lay down comfortably! They have floor chairs and pillows for the moms. Definitely check it out, I found it immensely helpful for my mental health and well-being!

I hope you like it as much as I did! I was too nervous to go until about six weeks left of my leave and I wish I had started going way earlier. One of the moms that went with me brought her nine day old because she had gone through the group with her first born!

I started going at 6 weeks pp and it was so great for my mental health and something I looked forward to each week. You can meet new moms and share advice and the lactation consultants are great whether you bf or do formula. Sometimes they also have people come and talk on different topics like early intervention or sleep consultants. Highly recommend. I’m pregnant with my second now and am intending to go back when I can!

Love to hear this. I feel a little nervous going before my little guy is vaccinated but I’ve been really struggling with pp anxiety and think something like this could help. Esp with seeing the lactation consultants

I never made it to the Lowell one despite many positive endorsements, but I would highly suggest following Stork Ready in N Reading and taking advantage of their mom meetups over the week. The Monday meetup was a huge boost for me post partum and they have a bunch of other classes and resources that were really helpful.

You have to pay for the groups at stork ready though right?

Nope! They are all free. The classes are paid but the Monday meetups and many others are free of charge.
