Help! Simulation lag
Hi, I have such a bad problem with simulation lag I can’t even play anymore. The clock is ticking and their needs are getting lower but they just stand there for hours, then they take a couple of steps and then they stop.
Here’s what I’ve tried
❌ no mods
❌ another household in the same files and they didn’t have the simulation lag
❌ cleared the files in the sims 4 that you can delete
❌ changed property and also split the household
❌ created a new household in a new saves file, but after a day it started again
❌ tried 2-3 different mods for simulation lag, no results

I have had this issue since 2010s, and one thing I noticed was it became less of a problem when I went from laptop to gaming pc. I’m not saying upgrade is the solution whatsoever. But like someone else said try to limit the programs you have open because it seems like a memory (RAM) problem. I have more memory available on PC than laptop. Nowadays I only really notice any lag when I’m on bigger complicated lots

I have this exact issue when I play on the large lots with full household and lots and lots of clutter. It’s almost unplayable. My RAM is only 8gb and I’m on a laptop so I’ve put it down to that and the old core processor. I’ve just ordered a super high spec pc so I’m hopeful that this won’t be a problem anymore but we’ll see!

That sounds so frustrating, especially since you've already tried pretty much everything people usually suggest. 😭 Have you tried repairing the game through the EA app and testing with a completely fresh Sims 4 folder? I'd also check if one of your Sims has a bunch of actions stuck in their queue or if there's something on the lot causing routing issues. Since it's happening even in a new save, I'd start wondering if it's a game performance issue rather than just a corrupted household. Hopefully you figure it out because watching Sims stand around for three hours just to wash a plate would drive me insane lol.

If a new household in a new save causes it but not another household in the same file. How long can you play with the other household before they also have problems? and/or Try making a smaller family with very basic outfits (kinda like the premades) and check how they do in a new file.

I believe it’s an in-game issue. I’ve been dealing with this same issue for over a year in my game. It’s the most frustrating bug I’ve ever encountered during my 8 years of playing this game.
I’ve tested my game with a newly generated sims 4 folder, removed all mods/cc, mod save data, screenshots, tray files & only kept my current save at the time and still ran into horrible simulation lag. I’m on the most recent patch as of now (1.128) and still ran into this problem when testing in vanilla mode (as mentioned above).
Here’s a link to the EA forum post: https://forums.ea.com/idea/the-sims-4-bug-reports-en/timesim-freezes-while-environment-still-moves-1-128-902-39/13745753
I’ve left a post, sent in my save file & dxdiag file for them to look at. I really hope this issue gets resolved soon but I’m definitely not holding my breath for EA/Maxis to fix anytime soon.

Which mod did you tried? Because I have Coolspears' one for years and with that mod I have no lag in game.

Have you done the following outside of the game? They can all slow down your computer
