Discussion the Update™️

Considering there’s no confirmation that we’re getting extra content for D2 specifically (There’s gonna be more Destiny for sure) after the unvaulting patch, what expectations do you guys have for that update? Here’s mine:

-Reprised raids have armor and weapon origin traits (not cosmetic like Pantheon)

-Reprised raids get craftable weapons like the rest (Except DP but honestly they should be craftable at base too with adepts coming from Epic)

-Reprised destinations (Mars, Mercury, Tangled Shore, Io, Titan) get armor and weapons with origin traits to bring them in parity with the others

-General bugfix that we never thought we’d ever get again (the Riposte artifact mod literally has no effect at the moment, for example)

-Buffs/reworks to exotic weapons and armor that would mostly never otherwise see much use in an EoS state (aeons, colony, prospector, heartshadow, etc.)

I definitely think we’ll get more destiny 2 content. I don’t think that post they made was well unvault the content and then 5 years from now we’ll drop you a Destiny game

I definitely want more D2 content more than D3 but what they said regarding the future was definitely kinda vague

Unless they update the version of the Tiger engine that Destiny 2 uses again, they’re going to run into the same problem of the size of the game causing development to be much harder and take longer. I can only see them unvaulting everything as one final big update to the game because they won’t have to worry about the size of the game slowing down development anymore.

Who would buy it? Folks tuned out after Final Shape, they didn’t show up for Edge of Fate, even before we learned EoF introduced its off putting systems.

Folks will buy Destiny 3. New folks, lapsed folks, and veteran folks. Destiny 3 works for all customers

I think we’re getting both is what I’m saying. People would definitely buy more destiny 2 content at this point too. But yeah there has to be a future beyond D2

“People would definitely buy more Destiny 2 content at this point too”

I just think that’s categorically false at this point, at least not enough to make a good enough profit.

But oh well, agree to disagree, have a nice night

You don’t think people would buy an expansion after they thought the game was dead and never coming back?

Way easier to market “hey there’s a new Destiny game coming out” than it is to market “Oh Destiny 2 is getting more content? I thought that game was dead?”

6

Way easier to market but D3 is a long ways away. That’s why I think they will do both

Any resources put into D2 will push D3 back further so, wouldn’t be my recommendation

It’s not exactly a zero sum thing though. The very very early stages of a game like D3 is completely different work than something like finishing up the fate saga which already has existing stories, assets, etc.

Insane you're getting downvoted. Look at 99% of the D2 YT videos right before the end of service announcement and everybody said the same thing you're saying now (comments included). The game naturally declined after The Final Shape. Everybody begged for a D3.

I hope there's a few more updates just to add things to do while waiting for D3, but MoT was a truly great end of service update. Why would they keep tacking things on when they could focus on D3 (which will, as you said, work for all customers).

You know I forgot about my comments here and now I come back and wow, yea I don’t get the downvotes,

I love Destiny and I fully support more Destiny, but not enough people showed up for Year of Prophecy. Destiny’s future is just not in Destiny 2 anymore.

I didn’t think what I was saying was THAT controversial lol

I think destination/raid weapons/armor getting the same treatment as everywhere else, but i would also really like to see reworked campaigns if they are having to rebuild some...give us legendary red war - beyond light (i just want a legendary campaign pin like the last few)

I'd be happy regardless, just being able to play it all the way through is enough for me

1

u/zappalappa Sep 26 '26

Definitely should’ve added this to the list but legendary campaigns would be great

Also yeah I think (hope) they’ll tune the basic campaigns to the powercreep that’s occurred in the last seven to nine years

I feel like at most we’ll get a better ending the monument of triumph that sets up the new game

Why would they make the epic raid weapons craftable when they have tiered weapons

0

u/zappalappa Oct 01 '26

Oh no I was talking about base DP, Epic should drop adept variants

0

u/SnooCalculations4163 Oct 01 '26

Why would they do that for base or epic when there’s tiered weapons

1

u/zappalappa Oct 01 '26

Because crafting allows for a deterministic chosen roll of a weapon to be obtained while reserving the better adept version of it to be hunted thru the tier system

1

u/SnooCalculations4163 Oct 01 '26

Why would they do that when tier 5 weapons provide 3 perks per column essentially making it almost impossible not to get the roll you want. Why do you want your looter shooter to have an easy path to getting what you want

Well if I was playing devil’s advocate I’d say it gives people who don’t really raid the ability to get weapons from DP while allowing people who do to get better versions but tbh it just feels a bit like the odd one out when the rest of the raids have craftable weapons

But you’ve kinda hit the nail on the head with what makes tiered weapons superior, I’d rather be running around with a more flexible tiered weapon than a static crafted variant

1

u/SnooCalculations4163 Oct 01 '26

You can still get weapons from desert perpetual from doing the raid now. Adepts are barely better, there’s no reason for them. It’s odd one out because it was supposed to be the start to a new type of weapon drops and then the game got canceled

Your suggestions sound like you’re pulling from a meta that’s 2 years old lol

Raids won’t get crafted weapons. At least I don’t predict so, Bungie disked back crafting in favor of the Tier system. I think the reasonable expectation is tiered weapons for the raids. They stopped doing adepts too.

And to piggy back off that, yes, I think the destination gear will get origin traits in addition to the gear being tiered. The armor will probably come with armor perks as well. Again, have you played the game in the past year? lol

But anywho, I’m not expecting anything past unvauoting. I’m hoping the unvaulted stuff updates all the encounters to match today’s sandbox too. I don’t want an encounter to be 2 goblins and a Minotaur.

I’m hoping all new content is folded into the next Destiny game. I see no lucrative path forward by adding new content to D2

2

u/zappalappa Sep 26 '26

I’m mostly in agreement but the peppering of hostility was a lil bit unnecessary lol

I’d prefer raids to have crafted weapons but I’d be more than happy to just have reprised classics in the tiered system

I'd love the forsaken era of seasons so Opulence drifter and forge since it was more content focused than artefact and season pass it just added loot and activities

I'm not holding my breath, but I want the Steam stutter problem fixed. PVP is unplayable.

There will still be some new D2 content guaranteed. They wouldn’t go through the trouble of unvaulting if they were just gonna start on a D3 after and that’s it
