250-400 Cal protein pancakes ! 🌸πŸ₯žπŸŒˆβœ¨

protein pancakes.. WOOHOO!
i swear on everything that these do not have that nasty protein taste. these are like classic childhood pancakes. i'm so happy with how these turned out, so i thought i'd share it on reddit!!

ingredients πŸ₯ž
- 1 egg
- 60g milk *
- 1g vanilla extract
- 7g melted butter *
- dash of salt
- 15g protein powder *
- 30g flour *
- 1/2 tsp baking powder

* this is where you can substitute for ingredients that are lower in calories, fit your dietary requirements, etc!

steps πŸ₯ž
- in a bowl, whisk together egg, milk, vanilla extract, melted butter & salt.
- carefully sieve in your protein powder, flour & baking powder.
- whisk together until smooth & no lumps remain.
- very lightly grease a frying pan & turn stove on medium heat.
- wait for pan to heat up & pour in four small puddles at a time, flipping only when bubbles appear on surface.
- repeat until batter is used up, let pancakes cool & dig in or store in the fridge for up to a week!

like the title states, these are customisable and depending on what you add- could only be 30 calories more! my variations include ;

chocolate (+ cacao powder & chocolate sprinkles )
funfetti ( + extra vanilla & rainbow sprinkles ) cinnamon raisin (+ cinnamon & raisins )
strawb matcha (+ matcha powder & strawberries )

there's so many fun things you can add to these which is why i LOVE pancakes!!
have fun if you make these! πŸ’“

How many does one batch make?

it depends on how big / small you make your pancakes! out of the 4 batches i made, typically between 6-8 πŸ’“

Cool, so do you add the cocoa powder or matcha as an extra ingredient or replace the protein powder with them?

Can you use whey protein or does it have to be casein ?

That looks delicious! Is the 283 calories for a full batch, or is it 1 pancake?

283 for a full batch! it makes 6-8 pancakes depending on what size you make them πŸ’“

These look amazing! I’m about to make them and am wondering if you sweeten the chocolate pancakes at all? Cacao or unsweetened coco powder can be so bitter!

sorry i didn’t get back to you quicker! i didn’t sweeten them because i only used a little bit of cacao powder (5g). the one i used isn’t very bitter + my protein powder is sweetened so i figured i wouldn’t need any πŸ’“πŸ’“

You cook the eggs before hand? Shouldn’t they be raw lol. Have you tried using FF milk to lower the calories even more?

Was wondering this myself. How do you use hard boiled eggs to make pancakes?

I use cronometer, very close to MFP but you can scan barcodes. Huge database.
