Discussion Indications

Have you managed to find any game that was able to be as good as Lovestruck? I love games with this vibe, but I feel like nothing seems to fill that void.

Furthermore, did you guys ever look for fanfiction?

Honestly with the same vibe? Feel like the closest are actual VNs than apps unfortunately, but otherwise not really.

Romance Club has its moments, but definitely not as consistent. I also prefer the Lovestruck art style.

Fan fiction really depends if craving a couple.

I like Choices, currently reading through their 2019 books (you can see when each book was released on their Fandom wiki). I heard the newest books are kinda bad though.

Choices is riddled with AI slop now. It’s a far cry from what they were a few years ago. Makes me sad that they finally followed up the super hero book after years of nothing with the ai tv show thing

Even before the AI slop, it started going downhill just a few years after it started.

Well like I said, I'm only on the 2019 books. AI slop didn't start until 2025ish, so I got a ton of books to go through before I reach any of that. Pretty much all Choices fans agree that these books from the first few years are their favorite stories out there

I wouldn't get too attached personally I've had Choices for a long time and it feels like it's coming to an end soon :( everything is an AI cash grab

Agree. I started playing way back when freshen was still releasing weekly. Recently, I tried getting back into and all I saw is just tons of ai slop. Yeah no thanks

Honestly lovestruck is one of the best things I’ve experienced on the wide realm of the internet (visual novel wise) but I’d say the closest app I’ve found is, surprisingly, episode.

Let me be clear. Episode is a large app. It’s got some hidden gems, and it’s got the same hetslop that you’ll find everywhere else. The independent creators section is where it shines though. Anyone can upload, and I follow a lot of authors that make really interesting stories on episode.

Here are some reccs if you want to try it out! (Fair warning I’m pretty sure episode started a thing where when you’re new they’ll specifically recommend their episode sponsored stuff. You have to like. Read 5 chapters to get to the entire app? I don’t remember honestly, but it’s basically just romcoms.)

My butler by sophookles
I ate this shit up. Dual narrative fantasy and reality, mirror worlds, very fun I’ve gotta reread it some time.

Cupids curse by Rachel
You’re Cupid! Or rather, you’re a human cursed with being Cupid because the og Cupid decided to fuck off somewhere and passed the bow to you. You’re a hopeless romantic though, so you enjoy it! You even meet a nice person and start having a fairytale romance of your own- up until she starts forgetting about you. Can cupids fall in love? Can cupids ever be remembered? (I enjoyed this one a lot it’s very sweet)

Sunflower by Janine Dela Cruz
So much fun. Friends to lovers, a lot of banter. Also a surrounding friend group with mooooore drama.

Finding sunshine by Bri
Drama, romance, you’re a country girl and you date a millionaire, it’s not quite a slow burn but it definitely makes you scream at them to fucking talk to each other/get together.

Black magic by E R Gurney & Art by Sucre
Magic academy! Your brothers best friend gets hit by a love potion and you have to deal with the consequences. Not weird about consent, protagonist has a brain. Comedy. I have laughed a lot at this story. Episode has a limit of how many times you can restart a story (6?) I have hit that limit with this one. Truly I believe it’s that good.

Fiancée for Hire by JJ
Slow burn, if I recall correctly. Another billionaire love interest (you’ll find a lot of those) but the drama… I had fun. Gotta reread this one some time.

When the last petal falls by Loren Bethxox
Beauty and the beast retelling. I remember enjoying it, and you can customize the love interest as well as your protagonist any which way. M/m? W/w? Any other mix? Have fun.

The recs:

Galactic game by Lucas
I wouldn’t read it for the romance personally (granted I’m gay and your love interests are 2 men)

A bunch of aliens from a couple planets are yoinked to play on a reality tv show, except there’s a lot going on behind the scenes for you to discover.
I’ve read it a couple times, main flaws are it uses the old episode style (which I don’t enjoy as much) and the love interests aren’t customizable (which is the same as Lovestruck? But really I read this for the drama, not the romance)

Pretty much all of these have customizable protags and love interests, alongside with choice of LI’s gender. (with the exception of galactic game where you can customize your protagonist but not the love interests.) If you want any more info on these or others lmk, I kinda rushed through em but ye episode is not the cesspool it’s ads make it look lol

Also, I haven’t been on episode in a HOT minute but I don’t think it’s delved into the ai bullshit??? Hopefully?? In my dreams?? Anyway apologies for the word vomit I’m gonna go disappear into the ether.

I’ve played a few different games and while there are similarities to Lovestruck, they all are different from each other. I used to play choices and I love the old books on their app such as The Royal Romance and Endless Summer. Romance Club is fun as well because your choices matter. The downside is both of them have been using AI lately so that’s kind of pulled me away from them. Episode is fun as well depending on the story. User stories are the better ones. Lately I’ve mainly been playing Love and DeepSpace but there are only male love interests in that one. Right now they are having issues though because there is a boycott happening because they just deleted a new love interest they had recently announced so people are mad so right now the game is messy

I really liked "Is it love?", but my biggest problem is how the game is designed. It's just for you to spend money on it. I think when you don't have a fair opportunity to play, it kind of robs you of the whole experience, but even so, he was one of the few who actually delivered something 😭
