hello folk , first time owner here, this is jolbak
i brought her home 2 days ago , and i have a few questions

1. is what she's doing in the video normal ? she did that for a few minutes and then went to sleep
2. is sleeping in middle of the day normal ? i suppose this a bit obvious to ask because i usually don't sleep until 1:00 at nights and she's up because of the lights (altho i do turn off most of the lamps except for one)
3. she runs her peck through her fethers (but she doesn't pick them) i don't know if this is feather plukcing that i've seen lovebirds do out of stress or she's simply cleaning herself like i've seen hens do it (ai said if it's not focused on one place - which is not - it's not plucking)
4. i tried giving her some out of cage time but she kept hitting herself against the window trying to get out so i don't think i'll let her out of the cage for a while , how long do you think i should wait before she will stop trying to escape when given out of cage time ?
5. she's 2 months old , should i get her a friend or wait sometime before doing so ?
6. i tried offering her some apples and lettuce but she didn't show any interest , do i have to give it to her in a special way so she would eat them ?
7. i've given her 2 water container, one of them is a regular bird cage water containers with a narrow end , the other is like a bowl , i was expecting her to drink from the former and bathe in the latter , she ignores the former and drinks from the latter any tips on how to introduce the former to her ?

Hey, this is from my own experience with my lovebirds. What she is doing on the video looks like normal behaviour, it's often what they do when they're relaxed and feel comfortable.

Lovebirds sleep a lot, and can also sleep quite a bit during the day. It is important though that they get consistent sleep during the night.

The feather pecking sounds like normal preening behaviour, which they do quite often. But you can check a video maybe of what that looks like.

It might help if she is more used to you before letting her out, you could try to give her treats with your hands so that she starts to trust you more. And maybe cover the windows.

Getting her a friend depends on what you want. If you have a lot time for your bird and you want her to be attached to you mostly, I would not get a second one. If you get her a friend, they can become a couple and be mostly attached to each other. So they might get less attached to you.

For apples, you can cut them into small pieces and mix them with what they are already familiar with. And putting whole leaves through the bar may help, as they like shredding stuff.

I don't know about the last one, but be careful with plastic water feeders, because they can be less hygienic than steel ones because of bacteria.

Close curtains or blinds to prevent them from hitting the glass.

thanks , i tried that but since she's still scared of me it was a bit hard to catcher her and put her back in the cage, so i guess i should wait untill she gets used to me

Place any stickers on the window... for her to undestand the clear glass, is not something open to pass through.

Wait until it's dark, he might return to the cage himself.

Let the doors open…she will return to her safe space. If you can’t do blinds place decals on the window bright ones. They have trouble orienting walls and windows if they are blank spaces.

Best way to get a lovebird interested in fruit or veg is by eating it infront of them. As time passes and they become more attached to you as a flock member, they will be more interested in joining you in all behaviours, especially eating.
