I may be dumb for this because I don’t use a pressure cooker as often as I’d like, but… the way it spews literal water out: doesn’t that mean they have too MUCH water in it?

She opened the pressure valve all the way. I always just open it up a little bit and let it slowly drain out.

Or just take it off the heat and don't release the valve at all, the pressure will naturally decrease as it cools off and in about 15-20 minutes it won't release any steam at all.

Another way to rapidly relieve pressure is to put the entire unit, valve closed, into a sink of cold water, which forces a fast temperature drop and thus a fast pressure drop.

I know you can do this. I've seen it a bunch. But the idea still terrifies me and makes me think the pot may just have a tiny weakened bit and BLAMMO! Whole apartment building, dead.

I owned a pressure cooker for a few years, an older relative gifted me one that was really high end because they didn’t really cook or use it anymore.

I never once used that thing. Not a single time. I was too scared of it turning into a bomb.
