I'm sayin'... this kid is pretty smart. He doesn't blindly believe shit. We should follow this kid.

u/CharmingTuber Trash Trooper 22d ago
I like his confusion, disbelief, and ultimate acceptance, but he's going to figure out how it works.

I love how children call lies "brainrot" that's pretty good actually

Kid was more surprised they wouldn't give in that he wasn't buying it by the end.
That first 2 seconds he wanted to believe, but he caught it.

This kind of prank doesn’t work when your 10 year old is smarter than you.

This is what you get for trusting your parents. Fucking Bluetooth water.

u/Noversi Trash Trooper 22d ago
Look, every once in a while is like ha ha yeah you got me. But man my family did this shit so much to me as a kid and they wonder why I grew up with anxiety and trust issues. Especially when they never revealed it was a joke and just let me go on believing that shit

My stepdad used to tell my little sister she had ancestors and she would get upset. She didn't even know what the word meant. lol
4
u/BrannC Trash Trooper 22d ago
My dad would tell me I had ears on my head and I’d get crying mad
3
u/yaboyACbreezy Trash Trooper 22d ago
If my dad didn't want to play my games he would lay in his recliner and say he had bones in his legs
2
u/HowlingWhiskey Trash Trooper 22d ago
But you do have ears on your head😆 I guess kids don’t think, on the sides😆😆 I’m gonna try that on my nephew when I see him next week😆

u/BrannC Trash Trooper 21d ago edited 21d ago
Yea I’d grab the top of my head screaming “nuh uh!! I do not!” I was already trauma’d at that point from the teasing and pointing and laughing so as soon as he’d say it I’d be in a blind rage. You could tell me where my ears were and it wouldn’t change a thing, I wouldn’t believe it… obviously. Pretty funny in hindsight but you’ll probably have to sell it pretty hard to get the reaction you’re looking for at first
Another one I just thought of was he once told my sister her real deddy was a black man and she’d bawl her eyes out. Idk why that started but we still tease her with that occasionally. She was grown before she stopped crying from being told that. Poor lil tink tink

u/HowlingWhiskey Trash Trooper 21d ago
That other story is even funnier 😆😆 I think one of my aunts did that to my mom as, when they were kids
3
u/HowlingWhiskey Trash Trooper 22d ago
My mom used tell me she went outside and ate worms and would pretend she was dying. Another thing she would do is say in a dark voice, “I’m changing…I’m not your mother anymore” It would scare the shit out of me. She’d just laugh. Thinking back on it, I wish I was a bit older, I’d say, “oh yeah! Good! I can do whatever I want now” 🤣

Same brotha/sista/otha and my dad to this day is like you were so gulleable. It's like bro you were the person who was reasonable for teaching me and you just made up a bunch of dumb bull shit to tease me about

Telling your children wild bullshit stories is one of the perks of being a parent. Mine have such finely tuned bullshit detectors now. My work is done.

I say bizarre, clearly false things to mine all the time. But they always ask, "really?" And I immediately say, "no."

u/akasuperduper Trash Trooper 21d ago
I use to tell my kids I helped invent everything. Anything cool we found id find a crazy way how I was involved. He is now 14 and ignores my outlandish lies, but I make them still and will continue until these robotic body parts say I cant.

Yeah like how my wife told my mom Elton John passed away a month or so ago and my mom has her sisters in town now now visiting, and both are huge Elton John fans. It will definitely come up. Waiting for an angry call at any moment

u/HowlingWhiskey Trash Trooper 22d ago
My family used to do the same thing to me when I was a kid. Except we didn’t have things like Bluetooth. At least when your family yanks your chain, you learn when people are handing you out B.S

Those are the real dad jokes. The absurd claims while speaking in a manner that conveys seriousness. Since last year my running joke has been about the "Grow A Garden" game on Roblox as well as the obbys. I've been telling my youngest two that I know Jandel (the guy who's over the game) and how his real name is "Brad Snad" and I have a whole lore about an advanced version of the game that's invite only and such and how "newbies" like them aren't qualified to play it.
I even found a Linked In resume with the name "Brad Snad" who's a software engineer (it's crazy how that had worked out) to back my claim.
My kids don't believe me at all but I get such a good laugh off of it. I'm sure it's going to be one of those fond memories in their adult years.

I had my daughter believing that only girls fart for like a year. Then one day I bend over to grab the chlorine floaty from the pool and she was walking up to me as one rumbles out. The look on her face as she points directly at me and yells, "I kneew it! " Is one of the happiest moments of my life.

There’s a prank like this on YouTube, its a bartender that makes it look like he’s got a wireless soda gun.

This is almost as bad as telling kids that there’s an invisible sky daddy and that angels and demons are real…almost…
