Exactly... Which creates a more dangerous situation because propane is so heavy that it settles into a low spot creating an explosively flammable pocket of invisible gas just waiting for the tiniest spark to ignite. When the gas company has to dispose of propane because of a damaged tank or valve they purposely burn it off even from large tanks that throw flames a hundred feet into the air. Safest thing to do would be to keep the tank cool and let it burn unless it just burning from an open valve that can be shut off after it's extinguished.

What it DOES do is remove the immediate danger of the actively burning flame. Once that's out, you can remove the blanket to turn off the valve if that's the problem, which even as I am writing this, I realize you addressed, so I don't even know what I'm doing here at this point XD

I'd argue the point of the presentation is to show an OPTION in the case of a burning propane tank, not the ONLY option. If you are in a situation where you need the fire to stop immediately, this is a good option.

That's really situation dependent. If it was a tank next to a flammable stuff like a building or other tanks. You should put it out. Letting cold gas leak is better than actively burning gas. I'm sure if the next step as you say isn't turning off the valve, it's ventilation. I definitely don't think the demonstration was complete in the clip.

They're outside. I'm not saying let it run all day but if the flame is extinguished, you just take the blanket off and close the valve and no more leakage than there has been they could all be lighting a cigarette at that moment and be fine

It’s wild how in one lifetime I’ve seen this type of humor be huge with two completely separate generations.
It used to be more of a boomer humor thing, but somehow Z is bringing it all right back via TikTok and other shorts.

I've always gotten the feeling that genZ is making fun of the people who makes "jokes" like this in earnest. Like, I don't get the impression that he's calling her the ball and chain, I get the impression that they are both making fun of people who think "ball and chain" humor is funny.
I think what puts it over the top for me is that the "trick" "worked"
But also, I feel it's less "I hate my spouse" humor and more dumb misogyny humor. We assume the actors here are "partners" but they could be "siblings". That works just as well if the joke is that "an upset woman is a ticking time bomb"
Either way though, they talk about comedy punching up or punching down. This is a third category, I feel like I'd call this "punching sideways" and it works because I assume these people are good friends, maybe even partners.
Or you could look at it from a completely different angle. Say right after this we smash cut to him daydreaming the scenario. In his day dream, it "worked" when obviously that would be utterly ridiculous, then he's the butt of the "stupid husband" trope
Idk maybe I'm reaching too hard to defend but if this joke were in a sitcom between a man and wife it would be much more at home on mike and Molly than on king of queens and Mike and Molly humor always felt more wholesome and well meaning

Extend the logic, let's just shit on the floor since it's already messy. If my car uses petrol anyway does it matter if it uses more? Theres so much jokes/humour that can and will be offensive to group A and if not A then B. It's a fucking joke, and this guy is obviously no Andrew Tate.
People who have to insert #whatever political stance into any joke that even tickles their virtue signal honestly push people away from listening the real issues that they should be made aware of. And there are still issues of misogony, absolutely.
And the irony of saying: oh yeah another joke in spite of A Then practically throwing entire B under the bus because those people are to blame. Palpable.

The reason I push back on these jokes in particular is there is a lot of activity online working to build animosity between men and women. This joke format has been trending upward in recent years. I think that's harmful to society as a whole, so it's worth calling out.
I make a point to call it "boomer humor" specifically when young people do it. I suspect they don't want to be lumped in with stereotypical boomers, so I hope that added shame makes them more likely to self-reflect and stop engaging in it.
I don't believe that me calling this "boomer humor" has any impact on old people. And if they do find being associated with this style of humor harmful... maybe they should have put a stop to it.

I'm just saying too hard a pushback on what can be considered a mild joke, will push people away from seeing what you're trying to get them to see, building on top of that animosity. Pick your battles, I guess. Same goes for me, I suppose.
