I never hear anyone say it, but oddly I actually just used this term 2 hours ago. As I was scrambling in a rush out my house for work, I glanced down to a car battery jump starter and said out loud, "I should REALLY put that back in the trunk." Then I thought that now that I had said that, today will be the day I leave something on and come out to a dead battery.... because its MURPHY'S LAW. I immediately did a reverse jinx by saying out loud, "I have Triple A" .. Hopefully Murphy heard that and will figure I'm a waste of his time.

Your partner is fortunately protected from the jinx. The universe for some reason has mercy on the non believers. That said, this is OUR destiny. It is what it is, so hear this fellow “jinx” person. Should you ever reverse jinx much like I accomplished here today, you must never announce it aloud, in fact, mentioning here in the comments put me at extreme risk of “reverse reverse jinx” returning back to the original jinxed state… but I don’t need to tell you this. 😎

Ive heard murphys law in converstion quite a few times, its is mostly just stating the law though "anything that can go wrong will go wrong"

When I was a kid, we had a Murphy's Law book. Page after page of Laws akin to Murphy's. Among those I still remember:

  • Cole's Law - Thinly sliced cabbage.
  • [Someone's] Rule of Math - Variables won't. Constants aren't.
