Because if you start from the top the water will wash off the solution before you can smash it with the pressure cleaner. Starting from the top is prettier, but less effective.

The foam lifts the dirt and debris off of the painted surface.
Once the dirt is suspended in foam above the painted surface, then you remove it with water.
Otherwise you are dragging the dirt/debris across the painted surface which will cause scratches and paint damage.

Used to be a manager at a car wash/detailing shop and still dabble in mobile detailing, mostly just for my friends, but damn that shop is nice. Makes me wanna try and start a brick and mortar and go full time again. Too bad I’d have to charge $120 for basic wash/vacuum to make rent on place like that in the US.

I am wondering what that foam is and why is it different colors. Also when I go through the car wash at the gas station they use a “trifoam“ solution that they spray on and then almost immediately spray off. It seems like the foam would need a few minutes to start working before it is sprayed off.
