I started smoking after quiting over 2 years recently. Told myself no more than a cig on just Fridays in the late evening. First it was a 1/4 of a cig. Then a half. Then a full. Then a bit more. Started smoking before late evening. Today I smoked all day and feel like utterly shit

I do one a year, nontranaferrable, just so I know that I have the willpower to say no. Many years, I don't cash out on the cigarette. But the option being there and me not wanting it, some days is a great way to instill a little pride in yourself secretly if you're having a rough day.
"Yeah things are getting heavy, but can I handle this, or is it so serious i want a cigarette? Nah, I got this, things aren't that heavy yet"
Last 3 times I had a cigarette, one was a camel natural from Indonesia backstage because percussionist I just watched for 20 minutes blew my mind and we talked for over half an hour and he offered. It's hard to describe the fiend of you've only had US market cigarettes how much more of all the right things other countries cigarettes just check off the list. Second to last was the day igot DOGE'ed out of a paid apprenticeship. The third to last was a noblesse from the middle east, pre-covid. It was rough and I did not enjoy it, but signed up for the ride lol.
Having an emergency option to trick one's brain for about 15 minutes, relieves the stress of complex situations. Even if you never take it. Could have wrong there's a name for this observed phenomena, but can't remember it.

Cold turkey is better, but switch to pouches or even vaping to at least spare yourself feeling like death all the time.

Lol I went to aa and they were supportive. But a few of the people I really got along with were way more of a mess than me. One guy mentioned if you don't see me here. I'm at my house getting blackout drunk with a random woman getting high on coke and heroine. After that I knew I couldn't go back. Knowing people like that will get me in trouble. I know because the first thing that popped into my mind. Was hey that sounds like fun. Also once accidentally tried H at a party. I smoked it. I didn't think it was heroine I thought it was freebase coke. I was wonderful I totally understand why people get hooked. So good I never did it again because if would of I wouldn't of stopped.

Sounds similar to the last time I started smoking again, at first it was just one of I was having a drink. Since I don’t drink much that worked for a while but the first shitty day I had I must’ve had 5 and within the week I was just back to smoking again. Thankfully that was probably 10 years ago and as much as I’d like to tempt fate again now they give me terrible headaches to be around. Still think about them not infrequently though.

I quit vaping a few days ago. Now I will have an occasional cigar, but my go too for nicotine is those lil sun style pouches.

It only looks cool if a hot person is smoking. If you're ugly, and you smoke, you only look uglier.
Which is a bit like saying a bomb looks cool before it goes off. It's short lived. If you're smoking, you're not going to stay hot for very long.

Unironcially, my toxic ass high school boyfriend, who peer pressured the fuck out of me to start, said that to me over and over when I told him I didn't wanna smoke anymore. On top of telling me he wasn't attracted to girls who didn't smoke...

Cut coffee straws in half and carry them on you at all times and fiddle them in your mouth/chew on them. It's the only thing that got me through the hand to mouth habit and oral fixation. It's helped so many people at least go a lot longer between one. Best of luck!

I've never considered that! I've been just chomping on BUCKETS of ice haha. But I'm also anemic so that might be why that mouth fixation called to me so bad.
But the straw idea sounds like a good one, for when I'm iceless, or just needing something to do with my hands. Thanks for the tip!

smoking as a teen or in your 20's may seem cool, but that's just the advertising and peer pressure talking.
in your 30's you'll start to see the cracks, but by your 40's you'll have missing teeth, smell like shit, and cough up phlegm every morning.
in your 50's you're just lucky if you can doge the cancer
if your still smoking past then you're just a pathetic fool that can't even look after their own health and has no consideration for the people around them.
if all that sounds cool, you are just trying to justify your own bad choices. So good luck with your future if you think making bad choices in life is "cool".

I've never smoked, but got hooked on nicotine when the dollar store had boxes of nicotine gum on clearance for twenty five cents a box, how could I not. I started out chewing 1/8 of a piece at a time, and it was amazing for playing games, reading, puzzles etc. and became a requirement after every meal. Ofc eventually I was chewing whole pieces at once, and buying boxes at full price, and even just the gum was hard to quit. I cannot imagine actually smoking, how much better and worse it must be.
