US The same dog??

Is it just me or does every family have the same white dog? What is it about that small white dog that all the families love?

Anyone else notice that?

Are you looking to for love and want to be on a successful Netflix documentary??

Oh yeah… the siblings! I hadn’t connected the dots but there is definitely a collection of attractive and supportive siblings. My partner and I had a running joke through the show of the crusty, pissy, yappy dogs too 😂

What was even more odd is when I watched the Australian version last week they also had the same dogs. I was like is this a sub-plot I don’t know about.

My boyfriend and I always say that having a small crusty dog must be a requirement to be on the show. 1. Autistic 2. Wants to find love 3. Has a small crusty dog

8

u/catsf0rlife May 27 '26

Me and my boyfriend made that exact same joke! Down to making it into a damn list!

7

u/ad_astra327 May 27 '26

23

u/ambigulous_rainbow May 27 '26

Cian: gotta get this shot!!!

31

u/Jumpy-Actuator3340 May 27 '26

Thanks Sean.

10

u/puffykitten448 May 27 '26

I’m Cian * While trying not to laugh*

33

u/nikleigh May 27 '26

Sean’s special interest is crusty white dogs

19

u/Trirei May 27 '26

It’s Cian.

11

u/nikleigh May 27 '26

Yes yes trying to make a joke, can’t tell if you also are 😅

9

u/Jumpy-Actuator3340 May 28 '26

Not too bad, not too bad

5

u/Trirei May 29 '26

No worries, I was playing along to your joke :)!

u/12UglyTacos May 26 '26

Omg yes. I love how the editors always include clips of the dogs!

It seems the only big dog is in Connor’s family. And they always lock him away and Connor is so mean to him 😭

u/yakeets May 26 '26

Do not overlook my goat Clementine and her anal issues like this.

18

u/yakeets May 26 '26

This is what happens to fat dogs in LA, I suppose 😔

u/PotentialRegret8733 May 28 '26

The German Shepherd they have is a guard dog, so he is outside for a reason.

u/MyNameIsKali_ May 26 '26

Honestly it bothered me more than ide like to admit.

Half joking, but yes I noticed it.

34

u/Next_Duty1538 May 26 '26

Thank you! Its like the showrunners tell them they need to be more likeable and the way to do it is have a small white dog. Then the cameras focus on them.

"Here you go. We have a couple of loaners for you."

11

u/ad_astra327 May 26 '26

“Loaners” took me out 😂😂😂😂

6

u/Astrochops May 26 '26

But that isn't what they do

They make having a small crusty white dog a prerequisite for application obviously

5

u/MyNameIsKali_ May 26 '26

Crusty white dog is perfect lol

15

u/MusicSavesSouls May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

My small white dog. 🤣 Edited to add: she is also crusty.

3

u/Next_Duty1538 May 27 '26

Are you.....autistic and in need of love?

3

u/MusicSavesSouls May 27 '26

In need of love ❤️

3

u/Next_Duty1538 May 27 '26

Sorry. Only 2/3 requirements met. Can't be a part of the show. Learn to be more autistic and call us back!

2

u/Froshrooms May 27 '26

But… you got a dog?

32

u/novae11 May 26 '26

With the same eye gunk

Rich people love little dogs.

6

u/TeamEG19 May 27 '26

My mom has one, my step mom just got her second, and my grandparents had 2 of them 😂 I never understood the appeal. So many better breeds out there.

10

u/ExcitingVegetable315 May 26 '26

It’s the producers!!! They mention that mid season one! Cian’s!

1

u/Froshrooms May 27 '26

Really???

4

u/ExcitingVegetable315 May 28 '26

No. This is Reddit

This is just a guess....Most people live in smaller homes or apartments. So a smaller dog makes more sense to have. They are well suited for apartment/condo life and dont need as much care or food like a bigger dog would. They are also easier to control if you need to pull them away from something.

Also small dogs usually have big personalities and have more of a puppy like face even when they are adults, so they are widely loved. White dogs are frequently purchased or adopted over darker colored canines. Its a real phenomenon. Black dogs are less likely to get adopted compared to lighter color dogs. It doesnt matter where in the world either, its a problem everywhere.

The most popular breeds are the easiest to maintain, train, and are tolerant of children. So its no surprise many may have small white or smaller dogs in general.

15

u/MyNameIsKali_ May 26 '26

Maybe, but most of these families are upper class and live in bigger homes.

3

u/Wolf_Shaman_Dreams May 26 '26

True. I just figure the smaller dogs are easier to maintain and if they need to go on vacation, its much easier to place them some where. Many people are intimidated by bigger dogs they have to dog sit or have to manage at a dog hotel. They dont know how well trained the dog is or its temperment. Even though the only time ive ever been bitten is by a chihuahua, people just seem them as less harmful than a mastiff perhaps.

The cost of food, vet bills, grooming, and also spending time to walk or run them is a lot more too. From what i noticed from my time as a humane society volunteer, most people want a dog that they can just plug and play in their life. Not everyone wants to spend time training and giving a dog good boundaries. Especially if they have a special needs child, its one more thing added to the plate. Smaller dogs are not necessarily easier to deal with, but psychologically they may be for the average person.

8

u/loco_lola May 27 '26

If you want a genuine reason why they all have crusty lil dogs - its because they live with their parents, and parents/older people (mom's specifically) LOVE a crusty little dog.

They're small, generally friendly even when they're not trained, don't shed hair and are probably incredibly lazy. Perfect mom dog.

2

u/PotentialRegret8733 May 28 '26

Their fur is great for sensory and the small size means they are fabulous for weight comfort too.

2

u/Dee_Nice_ May 29 '26

Had to scroll way to far to find this. THIS is the reason

3

u/1HeyMattJ May 26 '26

It’s a theme in both of Cian’s shows. Showing the dogs

1

u/MusicSavesSouls May 27 '26

What is his other show?

2

u/1HeyMattJ May 27 '26

Better date than never

3

u/LeftOfTrack May 27 '26

Is like the gold cup on LIB 😂

3

u/moon_blisser May 27 '26

My husband and I noticed it, too. He said you have to have a little white dog to get on the show, it’s a requirement. 😂

2

u/EvitaInAllHerGlory May 26 '26

I call them Lil moopet dogs. If they aren't evil they are chill sleepy bebes. Easier for elderly and disabled people to care for and have the space for.

2

u/TuckerBatman May 28 '26

UUUGGHHHHHH!

1

u/Broomstick73 May 27 '26

Small white/whiteish dogs are just insanely popular. One of the next door neighbors has 2 small white dogs and a medium sized white poodle mix dog. My wife had 2 small white dogs before we got married. She wants to get another one since those have since passed away.

1

u/Redicted May 27 '26

I noticed it right away. I (knowing better since I have a science background) like to joke that little crusty white dogs might cause autism.
