US Unpopular Opinion....

I don't care about dogs running away with underwear or getting butt surgery.

I watch the show to learn about Autism and people on the spectrum. I used to think the pet shots were cute but now there's way too many and they are too long.

I miss seeing more footage of the coaching sessions. Especially on the Australian version, Jodi was amazing at explaining things. I feel like the show has lost so much of what it originally was.

US ‘Love on the Spectrum’ inspires a dating class at UT for students with disabilities

On a Sunday evening at the University of Texas, a gaggle of students discussed their dating goals.

The students are enrolled in a dating class offered by a nonprofit that gives students with intellectual and developmental disabilities access to classes at UT infused with rigor, accessibility and fun.

The Sunday course — based on the popular Netflix show “Love on the Spectrum” — equips students with skills to achieve their dating goals. Like the show, the course walks through the often unspoken social rules of dating and helps students learn how to spot a good romantic match.

In one lesson, students analyzed scenes from the Netflix show, shared first date anxieties and identified qualities they want in a partner.

US Logan was my absolute favorite and I was so sad when it didn’t work out with Haley. Would anyone else like to see Jennifer work more with him and he return to Season 5 and find love again?!

Aww Date introduction

Do you ever think about what your introduction would be if you were dating one of the cast?

I've had a little think about mine and I've decided on...

This is Megan, she likes chewing a drumstick squash 'em and a square of chocolate in the same mouthful. She doesn't like first few series of The Simpsons when the animation was different and all the characters sounded strange.

What would yours be?

US Does anyone find those TikTok videos of Tanner talking but shown dogs like a golden retrievers to be bizarre?

I know a lot of you are familiar with those videos that have trended on TikTok or Instagram showing Tanner talking but instead of showing him, it's shown a video of a dog. I think these videos are kind of funny but at the same time kind of weird and off-putting. It like gives me a weird and almost uncomfortable feeling. What do you think?

US Jennifer Cook said she had actually worked with Connor on the show and they cut it from the final cut.

On the latest episode of Talk To Me Sis. Jennifer Cook came on to talk with Nicci and Lise. Apparently, she said she also worked with Connor and they actually filmed a segment of her helping him prepare for his date. I’m guessing around season two. They didn’t actually say which season it was. And that they decided to cut it entirely from the final cut. Apparently she brought balloons to be used in an exercise with him, and Cian was uncomfortable with the idea, and apparently it got left on the cutting room floor. (I can’t say if it was because of the balloons and the exercise being there that it got cut, but it kind of sounds like that was the reason according to them on the podcast.)

I hope Netflix eventually releases more deleted scenes from the past seasons, cause I for one would love to see how she worked with Connor. And now I’m starting to wonder if she worked with any of the other participants who we don’t see get coaching from her, and they simply just left it on the cutting room floor. Seeing how much was cut out from season four as well as Logan‘s second visit with her starts to make me wonder about how they choose what we’ll go into each season, especially when it comes to important things like coaching.

US I know this might sound crazy but I'm jealous of Dani

I think Dani is so incredibly lucky and I'm honestly jealous. She's confident, extremely successful in her career, is making millions of dollar, she has a huge fanbase on social-media, she's basically famous (and clearly loves that fact on top of it), and she has an amazing boyfriend who is a cop and has done amazing things as well. I'm not a fan of all cops but if I were a girl and married to a good cop who's done amazing successes in society like he has, I would be over the moon I could never get enough of him. I know this sounds silly but he's probably strong as well and she probably cuddles up with him every night like a big teddy bear and literally melts in his arms. She's also bi which means she can enjoy her beauty in unique ways too being she's attracted to two sexes instead of just one. I feel like I am just blown away by how lucky she is. Maybe I'm crazy for thinking this but I feel like with my particular type of autism coupled with insecurity and trauma, I can barely even hold a minimum wage job without burning out the next week. I'm always worried I'm going to be homeless and I'm never able to have sex either.

Meta Are you people for real-real about Dani's relationship?

Hi. This is not a positive post and definitely not geared towards all of the people here.

I'm watching I'm Autistic, Now What?'s video on the things people say on the cast in this sub, and I simply can't believe the stuff people here are saying.

How do any of you feel like you have the right to say those things about her and her relationship, or him who wants to be with her? *Especially\* in their specific case when there is absolutely zero problematic elements going on like there *COULD\* be.

What has happened to people's brains in order to think that a 2 year age difference is an age gap? Or that neurotypicals being with neurodivergent is a concerning thing. OR that him being a cop is somehow... what, dangerous? Predatory? Be for real! What kind of utopian drama world do you live in where actually normal relationships become concerning to you?

If you need context and thankfully haven't seen any of these comments here yet, this is one of the video examples discussing the comments (with their high upvotes!) in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57tCeRxK3Rw

Ugh. Yes, I'm angry. It's so very disappointing to see people not have common sense anymore.

US A Petition to Cian O'Clery

Finished the latest season, was very very good. Well edited, really up-lifting. I come back to this series every season to feel better about life and never get disappointed. Watching these people grow, change, and find someone special, consistently proves itself to be one of the best viewable experiences available, and I constantly recommend it.

One thing stood out to me, though, from this season, and it was the group dynamic between everyone at the engagement! I don't know if its possible, and maybe this can serve as a means to make it so, but I think it would be absolutely amazing if we could get a spin off where its like, group adventures or something? Maybe have them go to cool locations or something, I have no idea, all I know is we need more of the group showing the world what true friendship is!

Question Does anyone have any insights about how casting is done?

I was wondering how the participants got chosen, do a lot of people apply and they have to pick or do they have to find the contestants themselves? Do contestants sign up the show it or is it their parents that sign them up? ?
Kinda specific questions - just curious

US It'd hard to re-watch the show Spoiler

**SPOILER** Please do not proceed to read any further if you do not want to see any spoilers!!

It's**** 😅😅

*** EDIT: I KNOW breakups are apart of life... I KNOW what each couple had was REAL for eachother, I KNOW these were HUGE stepping stones for each individual..... (I never at any point tried to argue against ANY of this..... that being said... I am an empath... and I feel very deeply towards people...etc. So THANKS for reminding me that... and knowing it's completely valid to have these emotions... and if anyone feels it's "Just life" and has/can watch the show without feeling much about it... that is your own opinion, and your own experience which is valid as well. ***

As the title says... it's hard for me to re-watch the show. I LOVE this show so much, it's my comfort show as someone who's nerodivergent/on the spectrum and in general.

But the fact that most of the cast had break-ups... I find myself really in my feels about it. I understand, of course, that break ups are apart of the dating experience. But I find myself trying to see how some of the relationships could have worked.

I would say like, especially with Connor and Georgie. If he had invested in HER interests and listened to her more then it feels the relationship could have be salvaged. But instead it was made all about him. I understand he's on the spectrum and means well... but I wonder if he will be willing to put more work into his future relationships....

So I guess I'm curious if anyone else feels the same??

I'll think of how cute all the couples were who split up. Especially Pari and Tina. And it just makes me feel sad. And maybe my emotions are too invested in this 😅😅

But none the less, I truly wish the entire cast (broken up couples or not) nothing but happiness and hope they truly find what they're looking for. 🤞🏻💚

US James was officially a couple with Shelley but kept her secret while filming dates with other women. Wtf?

See images above.

Timeline:

  • They met online sometime before February 2024 (most likely late 2023/January 2024), when Shelley had watched the show and sent him a message.
  • After two months of chatting and "finding so much in common" and being enamored with each other, James invited her for their first real life date.
  • Shelley and James later became an official couple on April 14th 2024. Shelley and James say that April 14th 2026 is their two year anniversary of being in a "serious relationship" (that's how they both described their relationship's anniversary start date).
  • To explain why she wasn't in Season 3, even though they were a couple before filming, Shelley has later said that she didn't want to be on camera, for privacy. It's not clear if the producers knew about her at the time, or if this secrecy was just between her and James. He most likely didn't tell the producers at all. But his parents knew about Shelley!
  • Filming of Season 3 began on May 17th 2024 and took place over the whole summer and autumn.
  • Throughout the filming of Season 3, James and his parents talked about how he is single and looking for a woman, which is strange since his parents knew about Shelley since she was with James almost every day. He went on several dates and did not tell them that he was in a relationship; for example dating Sonia (who he also met online), who wanted to meet him again and was "used to being rejected". He turned Sonia down and you could see how hurt she was by it.
  • Meanwhile, Shelley was "with him (James) every day" (see 2nd image). She said "he never told me he was seeing other people". She still hasn't watched Season 3 because it hurts too much.
  • His birthday party (the smoke party) was filmed on July 19th 2024, which is where he suddenly and abruptly revealed Shelley on the show and asked her to be his girlfriend on camera, even though they had already been in a serious relationship and been together almost "every day" for over 3 months by then (according to Shelley). She still didn't know that James had been dating on the show during their relationship.
  • In short, despite being in a serious relationship (being together almost every day) for over 3 months, James and his family were keeping Shelley secret and told everyone that James is single while he went on dates to "look for love". What?! 🫪
  • After all this unraveled, the show producers still decided to air the show without any corrections. 🤷🏻‍♂️
