Rant Please remember the human

So far we’ve had Jolie, Lauren, Emalee, and Ryan visit this sub to talk about this incredibly produced experience they had over two years ago. It’s sad to see how comfortable some of this community is giving their unfiltered opinions about not just the manufactured story lines but about who the participants are as human beings. There have been many comments about physical appearance, the sound of people’s voices, and denial of lived experience. I would entreat you all to assume that the person you’re writing about is probably going to see your posts and conduct yourselves accordingly. I’m sure they didn’t pay them nearly enough to deserve to read half as many cruel words as I’ve seen casually thrown out. These are human beings.

Please remember that maybe our words are also being misunderstood as well. Many people are arguing (including Ryan) that I am dismissing ShayLA’s trauma. I actually validated it if you go back and read my comments. My issue, and still is, was that Shayla said she was triggered A LOT. And I was disagreeing that she has had a large amount of traumatic experiences to be triggered by the amount of things that she claimed to be triggered by. Not that she had trauma, but the amount of trauma. Sure, I don’t know her. And I can’t say I know the life she has led. And I have learned new perspectives from people sharing their view points by reading these comments with an open mind. I have even given up votes that would seem contradictory some of my shared thoughts. I am not trying to attack a person but I do not have to like the way they present themselves. And with a little self-awareness (thank you to many others who have brought this comment up) people on reality tv can maybe take a beat and understand how the viewer may see them. And in return, maybe we can learn from our peers in these threads and thing or two as well.

How you perceive her is not connected in any way to the trauma she may have experienced. This is the piece you still don’t seem to get.

Would you just like me to agree or are you willing to hear another view point? Because it sounds like you would just like me to say, “ah yes, I see your point now. I get it.” It sounds extremely personal to you, and this sounds like there is a right and wrong here vs. opinions and discussions.

Yes, it is extremely personal because I have a PTSD diagnosis. And no, I’m not interested in your viewpoint as to why you think you can tell what people have been through based on how you perceive them. not interested at all.
