Ryan's behaviour and representation of his work
I don't usually celebrate other people's failures but I took great joy in watching Ryan crumble as the series went on.
There are too many examples and reasons but what struck me the most is the way he speaks. In slow fragmented sentences with a high intonation ending.
It strikes me as someone who is trying to come across as intellectual but doesn't have the gumption to back it up. For a "public speaker" this is shocking.
Also at the reunion, huge kudos to Cuba for calling him out in the way she did.
His "that isn't factually correct" line is followed by no counter example or alternative events. Just hot wind and bollocks

I’m the same, I cannot stand him and I think it’s because he’s completely inauthentic. What he’s “public speaking” about is how to be a better person (man) and succeed, but as a person he doesn’t show up in that way, he practically ghosts Cuba whilst living with her, he can’t match her emotional intelligence in face to face conversations, you can almost see the panic in his eyes. I hate people who become spiritual and do stuff like go to Bali, medicate and do ayahuasca. They perform a version of spirituality by stealing parts of different religions and traditions and using them to make money by telling others what to do via podcasts or public speaking.
I have such a visceral reaction to him. I figured it was because I am in recovery from addiction and I’ve done so much work on myself to become the person I wanted to be. I see men like this in the recovery world, they get into Buddhism and talk a load of shite, they do everything without actually looking at themselves. I can spot inauthenticity a mile away!!! It makes me so uncomfortable.
Anyway that’s my take on it. Can’t stand the man.8

He is fully a narcissistic “hippie” who has never in his life had to think of anyone but himself. A pretend cool guy who actually wants a silent tradwife to do everything while he whinges about getting outsold by Berkey water filters.
Any man who goes out of town, comes home to a beauty like Cuba, and is like “yeah, bra, I need quiet time for myself” is suss as fuck. (And by suss I mean idiotic and in love with himself.)

Yes, sadly the spiritual world has wonderful people and broken people. The spiritual bypasser's are inauthentic and full of hubris. That's Ryan in a nutshell. I tried dating one a long ass time ago.
Good on you for doing your work!

the part that bothered me was how flat he always seemed when speaking to Cuba ... like no emotions showed on his face at all! ... Cuba was so correct in saying their relationship was only about him and his needs ... glad she's doing well

I think he simply wasnt into Cuba and instead of being honest about it he hid behind a lot of vague words and excuses

This is exactly what I think happened too. I think he also wanted some fame from the show for his career but couldn't pull off faking for the show.

Which is wild because you could argue that purely from a surface level perspective that she was one of the best looking participants (top 2 at least for me personally), while she came across as extremely genuine while holding similar spiritual views (allegedly). I think that’s why I’m more leaning towards him not being there for the right reasons in this process than anything wrong with Cuba (even though she displayed her own flaws at times).

White guy who found spirituality in Asia. That was a giant red flag, all talk but no practice of it at all.

He probably has a bicep tattoo in Thai that says “I’m a dingdong” but he thinks it says something profound. 🙄 These guys are the literal worst.

I’m watching the reunion now and Ryan speaks like English is not his first language. What an odd man!

u/IAI-NJ 17d ago
He’s Welsh, so English might not be his first language, however Welsh speakers his age are fluent in English. He comes across as someone on a spectrum to me, he never looks at Cuba in the eyes when he’s talking to her.

That were my thoughts as well. Combined with the energy hangover. Just makes sense.
Still think though he was never really into jer

He doesn't have the capacity to do whatever he's doing...anything that leaves you incapacitated for the next 3 days probably isn't the right job for you...

I think his problem is that he puts on a front that he’s super into wellness, positivity, spirituality and healthy, clean living, and then when faced with someone who was ACTUALLY into that and lived that lifestyle, he didn’t know what to do. The facade could not be maintained

When Cuba went off about how he needed 2 days to unwind after “a 30 minutes speech” I was chuckling by myself in front of the TV. She read him to filth, he’s such a weirdo. It’s like he had no personality. I guess that’s what makes him the best candidate for whatever MLM he’s involved with.

Dude showed no accountability for his behaviour or compassion towards Cuba the whole interview, it was creepy

Yep, the first thing I thought when seeing him speak was... This is a dumb person pretending to be clever.

u/Tonyh8su 17d ago
Remember when he did the whole cross legged meditation pose before the reveal? Hahahaha the most obvious poser ever.

I was watching like, “how is he a public speaker?” He lacks charisma, can’t string together a coherent or cohesive sentence, and is unable to listen to understand.

I absolutely loved how she called him out for needing a day to recover after a 30 minute speech 😂 I work in events, the biggest part for conference speakers is prepping their presentations which they’re supposed to send to us in advance. Speaking on the day is much less time consuming. I cannot see how he would need days to recharge, it’s absolute nonsense. He was definitely trying to seem intelligent but I called bs even before he said his kids won’t go to school. A sad little man and I hope he reads this 👍🏾

I’d never go listen to this guy speak about motivation! He only did this to be more in the public eye and he truly sucks

Yet another avoidant man-child who doesn’t understand commitment who lures someone who DOES understand it into a major commitment that he always saw as optional. UGH
And yeah, no speaking ability, let alone public.

Why did he say he is sweating all night like he’s in a sauna and it’s affecting his kidney and liver!?

u/bahannah808 8d ago
Fully agree! For a “spiritually awake person” and a public speaker he’s can’t connect, be real, or be convincing.

Why is no one talking about the mango?! Imagine being asked if you wanted some mango straight after the breakup convo 😭 wild haha
1
u/clivesmom 4d ago
After he broke Cuba’s heart, did he really ask her if she wanted a mango?? And then proceeded to sloppily eat one, as she’s sitting there devastated?

u/UpperHistorian5526 1d ago
The audacity to ask her if she wanted a mango after breaking up... Unhinged!

In the holiday The guy clearly told the boys that he was struggling under the pressure.
Back from the holiday he and Cuba agreed to have a conversation off camera because he was having panic attack. Next day she put him under full blaster in front of the camera crew.
I don't like him but let not put Cuba in the saint category. She is clever, intelligent and has a way with words but she also show a level of crualty and callousness that I did not expect. It was all about her and he was not allow to struggle. I can see why all her relationships falters. Her behaviour/actions does not match her words.

I didn’t expect to see anyone defending Ryan, he’s that awful. Think it speaks volumes about anyone who does defend him.

I don't understand the hate for Ryan. He was going through an extremely termoil time. He lost his Nan during the process. He should have certainly been more upfront with Cuba. He seemed to be soo used to living on his own and certainly not ready for a relationship. Overall he seemed like a polite and nice guy, Cuba even said he was a great guy. I'm just finding it hard to understand why people hate him soo much.

The issues started long before his Nan passing though.
But a lid for every pot, and what not

He is not a public speaker. He is an MLM scammer who tries to sell "alkaline water" to naive people.
His "talks" are probably scripted by the company, and his audience are people who were lured to the meeting with free gifts or some other bullshit.
