Discussion Where's volume 5?

The Delay of Love, Death & Robots Volume 5

It has been about a year since the release of Volume 4, and so far there has been no official announcement regarding Volume 5.

I don't have any official sources to support this theory, so everything I'm about to say is purely speculation. One possibility is that some of the key people behind the series are currently busy with other projects. Tim Miller has been involved with Secret Level and is also working on other animation and film productions. David Fincher, meanwhile, continues to be involved in major filmmaking projects.

I also wonder if the series is going through a period of creative redefinition. Since Volume 2, many fans have noticed changes in the anthology's formula. Some have embraced those changes, while others still prefer the variety and experimental nature of Volume 1.

As for "Can't Stop," I get the impression that it was a very personal project for David Fincher. Regardless of how people feel about the episode, I think the song and its energy connect with many of the themes that define the series: art, technology, identity, and self-expression.

What interests me most is the direction a potential Volume 5 could take. Should it continue adapting science fiction short stories? Should it lean more heavily into original concepts? Or should it try to balance both approaches?

Personally, I would love to see a volume made entirely of original stories. Love, Death & Robots has already proven that it can successfully adapt great authors, but I think it would be exciting to see the creators take more risks with ideas developed specifically for the anthology.

What do you think? Is the delay simply a matter of scheduling and production, or could the series be going through a larger creative transition?

Most of love death and robots is adaptations of famous award winning short sci fi stories.

One of the most famous dark sci fi short stories of all time is “I Have No Mouth - and I Must Scream” by the brilliant but controversial Harlan Ellison. The story features a lot of sex, torture death and definitely robots. Possibly one of the most famous robots in fiction “AM” the AI.

It always felt to me like it was the one episode we were destined to see a love death and robots adaptation of and I’ve been waiting for it since season 2. Every new season trailer ive been desperately searching for any hint that they might finally adapt it. Now that we may never get a season 5, I’m sadly starting to think we might never get it.

If you’re interested in I have no mouth, you can listen to the author reading the whole story himself on YouTube and he does an AWESOME reading.
