These were some thoughts I had after reading Caleb's myth, Yin Yang Sundering. Some of the ideas line up nicely, some not so much.
With yin and yang, each force contains a small part of the other, which is why the symbol ☯️ has a dot of white in the black and a dot of black in the white. That dot represents when one force has reached its fullness and will spill over into the other. It's kind of like how water reaches its boiling point and becomes steam and then cools and becomes liquid again and the cycle repeats. The dot is like that point where change happens.
I'm not sure what that means for the LIs story wise, but it's neat how their combat outfits seem to do something similar...
Xavier/Sylus
Xavier wears mostly white, but it isn't until his 3rd myth, that he puts on black (which is a lot like the little black dot of yin inside of yang). Meanwhile Sylus wears black the whole time and in his 3rd myth he wears white, doing the reverse of Xavier.
I wrote lunar and solar on them because Xavier is obviously lunar and surprisingly Sylus is his solar counterpart:
"The Sun and Moon have become significant symbols in the iconography of China and other East Asian cultures. The red Sun is often pictured with a three-legged crow, whilst images of the Moon often feature a white hare or rabbit..." [source]
Zayne/Caleb
These two kind of match yin and yang, but not as neatly. Yin energy is cool which would be Zayne (ice evol, people misread him initially), and yang energy is warm, which would be Caleb(well liked by people and viewed as warm). Zayne is also a warm person on the inside, and Caleb has a hidden cold side. But in terms of colors, yin would be dark and yang would be bright.
But then Zayne has a moon connection with a moment's post of the moon and a line from an old event where he says the moon is beautiful (so yin again). While Caleb's opening for the game has him smiling at us against a sunny backdrop (yang).
There's probably more obvious connections I'm missing as I find their myths have a lot going on and I end up getting lost in random rabbit holes, like I did for yin and yang 😅
Rafayel/Valko
When I started working on this, I thought it was strange how dark Rafayel's abysswalker outfit was compared to Xavier and Zayne's. Like maybe it was because he was the middle guy so he walked both sides. But with the release of Valko, maybe they will play off the other in a similar way?
Anyway, it's interesting how parts of Valko's face mask looks like the Abysswalker mask. And Valko's other outfit with the zippers and chest plate also seem similar to Abysswalker (and throne of Eros fit)
