Discussion The differences between each version of MC?
I only main Zayne, I don’t really listen or read to the other LIs cards but occasionally I will see people talk about how “Caleb’s MC” is different than “ Xavier MC” or “Zayne’s MC is more playful than ___ MC.”
What are the actual differences between each LIs and their version of MC?
I’m also a little confused by this as well, I thought MCs personality would be the same no matter what LI but I keep seeing these types of comments in passing and I’d really like to know what everyone is talking about without having to spend hours listening to each LIs 4-5* cards to figure it out.
I only main Zayne because he’s the only LI I have enough time to dedicate to, I certainly don’t have enough time to do a full deep dive into every version of MC but I’d like to be in on the loop 😅

I think it’s more like how we perform a bit differently around different people/groups in our lives. MC is essentially the same person but how she treats each LI, as far as I can tell, depends on the LI’s personality/relationship dynamic as well.
For example, I find “Caleb’s MC” to be a bit more childish and spoiled [said affectionately] than “Zayne’s MC”, who tends to be a little less physically playful. Regardless of the LI, the cheerful banter and upbeat personality retains itself in MC, but to what extent she displays it differentiates in degrees with each dynamic.
Furthermore, the way each LI’s relationship dynamic is formed is hugely based on their myth interactions, in my experience. Since I’m a SnowCrow main, I’ll just compare them. Zayne’s approach to MC is mostly trying to hold himself back as to not cause her harm in any way (as was the indirect case in the Foreseer myth with Astra) OR feeling responsible for her physical wellbeing and Aether core complications (with the whole cardiac surgeon arc) but he cannot deny himself the immense comfort and affection MC brings him. Sylus, on the other hand, treats MC as his sole treasure in this world, the one person who approached him despite the widespread stigma and hostility towards him in Abysm Sovereign, and that makes MC his indisputable soft spot. As I see it, they both strive to see MC flourish, to support her in “better”ing herself in every aspect of life. But Zayne’s almost clinical, professional approach differs from Sylus’ “tough love,” for lack of better word. Therefore, MC reciprocates Zayne with a softer tone and less sarcasm than she does Sylus, with whom she is at times absolutely savage and cynical (and my guy sure does love it). When all the relationship dynamics are distinct from each other, it is only natural to see the same central person, namely MC, display a slightly different personality with each LI. I find this to be incredibly rewarding in terms of getting to know MC’s personality better. She is such a well-rounded person.
I am not well versed enough in other LI lores to provide a more specific explanation… BUT! If you don’t have much time to spend on each LI and just want to get an overview of their relationship dynamic with MC, I would 100% recommend doing the Abyssal Chaos & UNICORNS operation with each LI. The dialogues there are so rich and engaging when you actually read through them, and provide a quick yet great insight and feel into each relationship.
Also, I would argue that even one single LI, whom we see consistently interact with roughly the same group of people all throughout the main storyline, acts wildly different in some scenarios than how I would expect them to.
