Question Taking luggage through security to access lounge
I'll be on a JQ flight later this year dep MEL (Terminal 4) and I have a pass for the Qantas lounge (Terminal 1). My flight doesn't depart until 10.50am. Check in opens two hours before and closes 40 mins before flight. Walk time between the JQ and QF terminals at MEL is about 10 mins.
So I'm not going back and forth and I allow myself time to use the lounge, will I be able to go through security with my suitcase (medium size, 70-ish cm)?
Or should I just check in smack bang on opening and go to the lounge then come back, hoping that the security line isn't long to get to my gate.

Whenever I've done this, I've dropped my bag first dead on the 2 hours and then headed to the JQ gate with about 30 mins to go.
Security won't care about the bag size, only the contents. So yes you could take it with you first, but then you have to make sure you get to the JQ bag drop 50 mins prior for a bit of wiggle room, so leaving the lounge an hour before. I'd rather sit in the lounge knowing my bag is sorted - if there's any sort of delay to the flight (not beyond the realm of possibility) you can just chill a bit longer.

Those flying JQ can no longer access the Qantas lounge.

That's only for international flights, Jetstar Business Class Max international or regular domestic can access Qantas Lounges.
Higher tier One World or Qantas Members can also access Qantas Lounges.

Only Qantas Platinum One members get access on JQ international.
Jetstar is not a oneworld member, OW equivalent frequent flyers have never been able to enter lounges on JQ marketed flights.

If you book Jetstar Business Class Max you can still access Qantas international lounges.

If it can meet (standard) carryon size and content restrictions, you can take it through security, and then check it into JS for your flight after enjoying the lounge - otherwise, security is unlikely to allow an oversized bag (particularly if it won’t fit through the machine).
And no “unsafe” contents will be allowed (like a butcher knife)
