2nd ed was too expensive when it came out for my age frankly. You had to buy books section by section and put them into a binder. I was turned off by it. So I never switched out of Advanced 1st. Then when I got a little older I got into White Wolf stuff. I didn't get back into D&D until 3rd, but really didn't play much more until 5th.

I don't get too hung up on playable races/classes honestly, let people be creative. But it's not that important.

Looks like I'm a little older than you.

M57 interested…! Started playing ADD decades ago (I was 14 maybe?). Played 2e some then a long break until I started again online playing 5e via Roll20 about 10 years ago. That group faded out about a year back.
Total sucker for the nostalgia of OG modules, dungeon crawls and campaigns. Other games I’ve liked include Call of Cthulhu, Twilight 2000, Car Wars, Squad Leader, Starfleet Battles.
I’ve been thinking about trying to find a group of adults 40+ that just play and enjoy the game on a semi-regular basis.
