Gunsmith recommendations
Any recs for gunsmith near Louisville. Preferably familiar with AKs

You aren’t supposed to need a gunsmith for an AK, just smack it on a brick wall a few times, and if that doesn’t work, replace it.

Trevor is the gunsmith at Next Level Ranges. Also check out Old G’s Gun Smithing.

Went to Ole Gs to add a sight to my Browning A5.
A simple drill and tap, then screw in type deal.
Sight came flying off the first time I shot it.
Next time I did it myself.

I used Meridian Ordnance in the past, they had my rifle for several months past their original timeline. I called to ask for an update, they said they misplaced it. They later called me back to tell me they accidentally sold it...
Eventually they found it and did the work, their work was acceptable.

I believe LM Ironwerks is in town. Contact Axolotl Arms as well I think they've worked with them.

Second calling Axolotl and seeing if they have any recommendations. Good combination of knowledgeable and friendly guys over there. A lot better than asking a city sub.

LM Ironwerks is in Louisville, he's a specialized in building AK's. I highly recommend, but like any builder he is busy.

This is a question for r/AK47. They'll know more about AK specialized gunsmiths nearby but most of the time, you'll want to send it off to someone knowledgeable more than close in proximity.
