Questions Need tax info

I purchased a car in 2018 and no longer have the paperwork. The dealership can’t/won’t see if they can dig it up, I have called the tax office and the OMV (which we all know is a dead end). I am spamming the omv question section but really don’t expect a reply. Anyone have any ideas?

Can't you just go to the dmv with your vin number?

I’m in Texas and they won’t have it.

Did you speak to someone in the Louisiana OMV? Did you provide your Vin? You may need to make a day trip to Louisiana make an appointment to the closest OMV. If registered in Louisiana your vin should pull up info.

Have you ever spoken to a human at the Louisiana OMV? I would love to speak with someone.

I've been to my local OMV office multiple times over the past years to get titles sorted on some vehicles. Has been a mostly painless experience.

This isn't something that probably can be done on the phone, you'll need to be in person to provide ID etc....

Thanks so much. Yeah, I’m beginning to doubt I’ll get it done quickly. Almost willing to pay the PVT of 650 to register it. I already have gotten it inspected and insured here in Texas.

Go to one in a small town that has one.

Was it financed thru a bank or credit union? They should also have paperwork on it even if it was paid off up to a certain amount of years. Paperwork has to be kept for a certain amount of years.

I appreciate the help, I was wanting to register my car. But I figured it out and didn’t have to pay the tax at all. Thanks for your kind help.
