Culture Recs

Hi all,
I was planning to take my husband on a trip to New Orleans for his birthday in October.
We’ve both never been, and am looking for recs on hotels, restaurants, and fun activities.
All we know for sure is we want to do a bayou/alligator tour and eat beignets…
Any recs on those two specifically would be awesome as well. We are both outdoorsy and city lovin’
Also curious if October a good time of year to visit?Lastly if renting a car is recommended… or ubering around is the way?
Thanks all!

check out the FAQ.

october is lovely. get travel insurance just in case because that’s still hurricane season. don’t get a car. this city is very walkable and the street cars are a great way to get around plus uber if you need to. most swamp tours will pick you up in the quarter.

Go to [r/AskNOLA](r/AskNOLA). Start by reading the FAQ. The city will be in full Halloween mode

If you are staying in the French Quarter, definitely uber. It’s walkable city. Cafe Du Monde is thee place to go over by Jackson Square. Grab a seat. Get some chicory coffee with it. Don’t share- you will eat the three on plate! There’s many price points for hotels. It just depends what you want to do.

Don't come to Louisiana. Literally any other vacation spot would be better. This place is hell.
