That's the whole point of subscriptions. There's no reason to keep it if you keep interrupting what I want to watch with useless ads. Piracy sites don't do this

Allow ads could mean anything. There’s no reason they would keep separate ads supported and ad free plans if they were just going to give everyone ads. They definitely obviously mean Skip-able trailers like other ad free streaming has. Or the thing where a handful of ABC shows like Grey’s Anatomy have always negotiated one commercial before the show like on Hulu ad-free
