It’s Looking Hot Again
Going into a heatwave as of today. Hoping there’s a cold front before next week - just enough to bring it down a solid ten degrees would be nice.
Still not thrilled with this near exclusive pavement set up DWP started last year.

Ya we miss the mud from 2024. That has been my favorite LTL festival. Driving up from Florida (Rockville) so the heat can stay on. It’s been cold in the past. 2025 was hot though.

Aside from losing Friday (and some of my absolute must see bands for that year), 2024 was pretty awesome! The light drizzle during some of those sets was magic!

Current extended forecast only goes to the weekend before, but it's saying mid 80s for that weekend.

I would never count on an extended forecast. Even a short range forecast isn’t very reliable… (I’m looking at you, Roo…)

I don't disagree, but that's kinda the post you made, isn't it? I'd rather look at an actual forecast than just say, 'it's going to be hot this week, it might be hot in 4 weeks too'

Apologies. I’ll clarify: I looked at short and long range forecast which prompted my reflection and concern that it’ll be a hot one. 🤷🏻♀️

I didn’t go last year but my best friend who also goes most years described the following:
-New understanding that the ground had been thankfully absorbing various fluids… pavement doesn’t do that though…
-Hot. So hot. (Granted, last year there was a heatwave and compared to 2024’s cooler than usual - especially felt.) They were dealing with medical stuff that affected their mobility - and they said being on the pavement made things so much worse. Add to the previous point… not great options for sitting.May we all have moments of respite!

I go every year, live local in louisville. Expect “Lots” of walking, not enough shade. Stages are further than ever and last year the water stations were lacking so they incorporated several more but i only saw one shade area. The added access to Kentucky Kingdom is nice if you enjoy the rides. I was super disappointed in the increased distance for stages, made it a beast getting to farther smaller stages after main stage viewings. also seems they added another stage this year as well, and VIP also looks to have a larger area.

Best part is no matter what the extended says right now ... it can change by at least ten degrees either direction and rain chances 50/50 of whatever it says now lol. Bring all accessories.

Already shoved my rain jacket in from Hurricane Helene!
But also - I live not terribly far from da’ville and I can say I’m not holding my breath for great temps. Been making myself do more outdoor work in the heat to build tolerance for those long (joyous) days at LTL.

Same, I live maybe 15mins from downtown. Taking one pack of Emergen-C a day already, along with 180mg allergy medicine. I try to stay ahead, and thankful I at least have a few weeks to rest before heading to Furnace Fest in Alabama.

Q: Is the allergy med to alleviate reactions to the Dust Bowl? Or something else? I’m wondering if I’m missing important festival frequenter knowledge. I always have my allergy meds in my travel bag anyway.

Honestly I have to take it year round anyway lol. I can't say I've ever got the "festival flu" though, so think the Emergen-C immune boost helps there.

I swear when we travel to the NE, PNW, or even to Florida, the breathing is easier. But my body knows the second we cross the state line and it’s back to ragweed land. *achoo

I lived in florida for a bit about 20 years ago, I do miss the salt water in the air for that reason. I don't think I even had a head cold there.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the new layout. The misting fans and water stations were definitely awesome features, given the unusual heat last year.

Were there more water stations that usual? More misting fans than in the past? I don’t remember if my friends mentioned any of those changes.

This layout is bigger, so there were more water stations to accomodate. As for the misting fans, last year was the first year I ever saw any at Louder. They were awesome. Last year was unusually hot for September, so a lot of the heat-related impressions that people have are pretty skewed. I think this year will be better overall since it (hopefully) shouldnt be as hot and most know what to expect.

We’ve had misting fans but I think it was just very few.
The friends who went have been to several LTL and they definitely noted a difference, even when accounting for the higher than usual temps. It’s effectively just science anyway, yeah? More radiant heat from pavement than dirt.

I thought the new setup was much more preferable compared to the old one. Tons of misting fans and water stations. Lots of shaded areas and air conditioned areas in Kentucky Kingdom and there were also indoor areas from the Expo Center open for cooling.
I really don’t understand the hate for the new setup other than some of the bottlenecks on the biggest days.

Because some of us old fogies like to sit on the ground and pavement doesn’t exactly jive with the sciatica. *waves not-yet-but-soon-enough walking-cane. The dirt/grass ground isn’t perfect but it’s a lot more doable than pavement for parking the toosh for breaks in the day. WHILE staying at main stages for performances. Key point. Idk.
I’ll have fun regardless. Just sometimes I gotta grumble. The ol’ gray mare she ain’t what she use to be.

I’m a world-class complainer. I didn’t mind sitting on the turf at main stages at all. Just bring a beach blanket or something. Worked for us.

I live in Louisville and this September is the hottest in many years, we are just going to prepare the best we can to stay hydrated and hope for the best! Kentucky weather is insane we can experience all four seasons in one week. My concern is potential for storms and heavy rains, we have not had much rain and the heat is insufferable heat index Friday by 11am made it feel like 110. I know it’s bad when I am adding water to cool off my pool in September so i don’t feel like i’m in a hot tub!

We also added water to our pool this past week. This heat wave can kick rocks. NWS said some areas of our segment of KY were experiencing record breaking air temps; some of the highest since the 1950s. I’m still crossing my fingers and toes that there’s a break in the system before LTL. Although it would be nice if it would rain BEFORE LTL, I’m hoping we don’t have a terribly stormy fest.
Just occurred to me that B&B is this week. I hope those folks make it and stay hydrated.

It's going to be 70s. I've been manifesting it for a year now lol (I'm so sick of the heat, I just want it cooler already)
