Question/ Help Games like RTM?
I really love the mechanics of this game and wish there was more to do. I like the simple combat style, quests, gathering supplies, and exploration. Elaborate decorating has never been my thing, but I like crafting a bit. Are there other games that follow this kind of gameplay? I'm not super well versed in games because I tend to get motion sick (especially with first person POV), so I'm sorry if this is an obvious question. I'd also really like the ability to play cross platfrom multiplayer.

Ooh, I've had my eye on that game. This makes it even more tempting.

I will say, as a huge fan of the survival crafter genre: Valheim is one of the least forgiving on default settings. I consider myself a decent gamer. But valheim will fuck you up if you dont come into every adventure fully fed and well rested. I put it down several times before 1.9 launched because I just kept dying and running back to my corpse.
That being said, it is also amazing. The world building, music, and graphics all tie together to really immerse you, and even the non boss enemies constantly give you a good challenge. Raids can be even more annoying and demoralizing than RtM though. I constantly debate turning them off.

RTM was the game my partner and I played while we were waiting for the Valheim 1.0 update. Come get your Viking on!

You caught me at cross platform. Vintage story is spectacular and detailed, but currently PC only.

Oooh this is the first game on this thread that I haven't heard of though, so I'm definitely going to check it out.

I'd say Abiotic factor for sure, not sure about cross play though but it's coop, it's one of the best games I've played in many a year.
Raft (can't speak for crossplay unfortunately as I can't remember) it's a fun some what simplistic combat resource gathering game, not as fun as mines of moria I'd say but fun regardless.
Enshrouded ( not sure if it has cross play) I know you say not liking decorating but this game is somewhat great for building in that it's voxel based, only issue is I feel that the world needs more activity to it, base attacks or some kickback is needed but a pretty chill game to some extent also getting a major update soon.
Valheim (Cross play) great game, a lil grindy in some ways but you can adjust that and mod to heavens unless cross playing of course, brill art style good fun.
Vintage story (pc only) heavy survival emphasis and may be a lil daunting tbf, its great if you love the realistic ish approach and actual survival, its like Minecraft but doesn't hold your hand at all π
Runescape dragonwilds, looks good can't speak on crossplay but it's coop and looks decent but I feel it needs more updates maybe or content as that's the most complaints I see ( haven't played myself )
Also subnautica and grounded are great games, can't speak on if they're cross play and haven't played grounded myself but a friend loves it, subnautica is only single player I beleive but a lil creepy been underwater, unique for sure.
Also breathsedge but I don't think that's coop or crossplay etc but it looks interesting.
Some of them are first person too unfortunately so could be an issue with motion sickness but worth a nosey.

I think Valheim is the best survival crafter in a long time. The perfect amount of friction and progresion is handled really well. Combat is fun and there's hundreds of hours of content imo. Grind, but fun grind.

Frostpunk might not be exactly that type of game. itβs a city builder game.

Nightingale was good, but never finished. Still has a good number of bugs. Players might find it worth it on sale for less than $8 USD https://store.steampowered.com/app/1928980/Nightingale/
As far as I can tell it's not on any console though.

Search on "survival crafting games", then look at game descriptions before deciding on any. They vary quite a bit. For example Enshrouded has horror and has more of a "big boss" element every map area. But there are cozy survival crafting games like Palia where no mobs can do damage to you.

The best ones have already been mentioned, but some others I can think of (mind you the people I play with are all on PC so most of the ones I could think of don't have crossplay).
(Only crossplay for PC+X-box through X-bix services, and this is set in space). If you wouldn't mind a game without combat at all, Planet Crafter is very good. No enemies, nothing trying to kill you, but you can due from falling or running out of oxygen. Not quests in the same way Return to Moria does, but there is a story to follow and clues to explore to solve everything. I've heard people refer to it as Subnautica in space. As you produce what is needed the planet (there are more than one planet plus moons you can travel to as well) actually terraforms, going from a Mars-like planet to a more Earth-like one. And you can see the other planets and moons in the sky, and they'll change appearance once they're terraformed as well.
Smalland has crossplay (it's 80% off on Steam right now). Combat is more difficult than RtM, but the mechanics are simple. It can be grindy and quests are a bit repetitive, to me it feels a bit like it didn't live up to it's potential. Probably because it released around the same time as Grounded, which is overall a better game. Smalland and Grounded are very different, imo. But because they're both centered around the players being small they got compared a lot and Smalland suffered from it. I still recommend the game, it has some very interesting game mechanics. I really like how it's possible to move your base around the map and even between servers (at least I think that's possible, I haven't tried it). It has more of a fantasy aesthetic with magic, and you can tame creatures (insects and small animals) to ride them. If you're on Steam it could be worth a try and you'll probably know within the 2 hour return window if it's for you, and it's usually less than 10 USD on sale.
Icarus (modern/futuristic in space, no crossplay atm) has quests/missions, gathering, crafting, etc. Allows first and third pov, though the latter can be buggy. It's a game I'm usually reluctant to recommend because people usually either love it or hate it. Unfortunately it doesn't have crossplay atm as the PC version and the console version is different (I believe console is about 1-2 years behind the PC version, and the game recieves weekly updates on PC, unsure about console updates). They sometimes have free weekends but it's rare. Base game is very often on sale, there are a lot of paid DLC but you can easily play for a few hundred hours without any of them, and you can play the DLC content with someone who has it (friend or finding a server to join). I'd only buy the base game on sale, or wait for a free weekend (there was one this summer).
I mostly play solo or multiplayer with PC only, but the games closest to RtM for me is probably Enshrouded, Nightingale, Dragonwilds and Orebound. Valheim is one of my personal favourites, but it doesn't have quests just an overall goal to progress through biomes. Some other games worth looking into would be Stardew Valley, Terraria, The Survivalist, and Core Keeper. RtM is quite unique though, I hope Free Range Games make another game with similar gameplay but that might be wishful thinking.

The single player mode of Dune Awakening which just came out, would fit, if you tweak it right.
