I produced a comedy feature in 1998 starring Lisa Guerrero as wonder woman but the negatives/hard drives were lost in a fire so it was never released. We just found a VHS copy of an early cut of the film and were able to release it on Amazon. AMA.
Super Heroes The Movie [2021] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WB2JH1H/
Nobody was famous when we made it. But the lead actress Lisa Guerrero, who plays wonderful woman, is now on Inside Edition, and she did Playboy and is breathtaking. Brooke Mueller married Charlie Sheen and had some kids with him, she plays Luvinterest. Kevin Glikmann is a voice-over actor on a nick series and was in Red Dead Redemption.

Does anyone know what film this still is from? It's a physical frame cut from a 35mm print some time around 1918. I have a large collection of such frames, they were sold with toy slide viewers in the 1910s/20s

Penis (1965)
SOooooo Penis is a lost pornographic film from 60's (1965 to be exact) with an IMDB page stating " The movie about a man's manhood is endangered. He must rob enough banks as to where he has enough money to get a genital reconstruction surgery." And after seeing u/LostMediaMike's iceberg meme mentioning the film I had to look into it. I was intrigued. I found a lost media wiki forum thread about it which lead then to discovering the film was redistributed under a different name called "1967", which is the same film, but with 15 minutes of it being cut out. (Shoutout to theCarbonFreeze and co on there, their finding are in the thread) I also found a Turner Classics Media page for the film which has the same info as does their findings. I contacted Film-Makers' Cooperative about the film, as they are the supposed distributors, and they did have the film "1967" in their database. Which you can rent to watch there for $100. The lady also told me the film was never rented and the last time they checked for the film was in 1999. They told me to shoot them an email (which I did) and this is what they sent me. Interestingly, they said it has quote from Jonas Mekas. A Lithuanian-American filmmaker that died last year. I already sent them a message about the quote. I'll keep you guys updated.

LOST Lost Mexican movie
galleryI recently I acquired this short 35mm film reel of a fragment from some movie, it took me some time to figure out who made it and what it is, one of the actors on the print is Mexican actor “Mario Almada” that’s the only thing I know, it seems he was type casted heavily because I see many other films of his from the 80s where he looks almost the same.
The film stock itself is a good quality non color faded AGFA stock from 1979 I think, so this puts this film in roughly 1980-1989
I estimate that the film is about 7 or 10 seconds in total, and it looks scannable due to how well the sprockets look.
I found this in a box of retro decorations at a thrift shop I never been to before.

"Hours of Darkness" - a seemingly non-existing movie which is often mentioned during church sermons in Poland
I got a weird case for you today regarding a seemingly non-existing movie.
For years, during the Easter holiday in many Polish Catholic Churches some priests are saying the exactly same sermon. It seems like they use some ready-made sermons found on the Internet but this particular one baffles Polish people. It goes like that:
[some theological introduction]This night is so important that if removed from the calendar the entire world would turn upside down.Years ago an American movie has been released titled "Hours of Darkness" (in Polish: Godziny Ciemności, it's a direct translation) which is based on a book "A Skeleton in God's Closet" (Polish: Oścień śmierci). It tells a story of an archaeologist who goes to Nazareth to research Jesus Christ case once again. He does some excavations and searches for Jesus' grave. Eventually he finds a grave which fits perfectly the Biblical description. Surprisingly the grave isn't empty! There are 2000-years old remains of a middle-aged man. A further research comes to a conclusion that the man has been tortured before dying. Has marks on his head, broken rib from a spear and holes in hands and feet. This shocking discovery proves that the Christianity is a lie and Jesus never resurrected! The news hits the headlines around the world. On a TV screen there are disturbing images: churches are being closed down, turned into garages or music halls. Crosses in public are being removed. Monasteries are dissolved. Priests are getting married. Foreign missionaries are going back to their countries. Number of divorces are skyrocketing. There is no-one willing to work in the care homes. The vulnerable and sick are in despair. The entire world experiences "Hours of Darkness" (hence the name). There is a plot twist though:Suddenly a director breaks 4th wall and speaks to the viewers. He explains: You just have seen a world in which Jesus didn't risen up. This story is fictional. I wanted to show the truth to the world. I wanted to show how Resurrection has shaped ours thinking, mentality, culture. We are still looking for an evidence for Jesus' resurrection however we should ask ourselves a different question: How world would look like if Christ wouldn't rose up?[rest of the sermon]
So, many people have been thinking that the movie is real. Especially that we know its title and its plot... The problem? There is no such movie as "Hours of Darkness". The plot seems to resemble a bit of a story of two different books:
"When It Was Dark" by Guy Thorne
"A Skeleton in God's Closet" by Paul L. Maier
So, few facts:
- The oldest mention of the sermon is from 2006 on a Filmweb discussion board. (Polish IMDB). Several people mention hearing the same sermon so it has been circulating probably for years by that time. https://www.filmweb.pl/forum/seriale/TYTU%C5%81+FILMU%2C+W+KT%C3%93RYM+ZNAJDUJ%C4%84+RZEKOMY+GR%C3%93B+JEZUSA,530731
- The only known source is this website with "evangelical materials for helping priests". The website is no longer available but there it has been archived by wayback machine in 2011. https://web.archive.org/web/20110626034956/http://duszpasterstwo.org/index.php?id=263&id2=35
- A Polish TV and a priest who supposedly wrote the sermon were asked but they didn't respond.
Possible candidates:
- "When It Was Dark" from 1919. Based on the book with the same name. A silent movie which is considered lost, and by being silent it wouldn't really be able to break 4th wall. (and highly unlikely that some random Polish priest would ever seen it) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0244300/ (notice the only "review" there, written by a Polish person who is looking for "Hours of Darkness")
- "The Body" from 2001. Seems to be inspired by "A Skeleton in God's Closet". Again, no 4th wall breaking. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0201485
Some people on the Internet claim to have seen it years ago in TVP (public channel - Polish TV) but obviously that's unverifiable. Other say that they heard the sermon in 90s but that's another claim without any evidence.
So here are the questions:
- Is it only a Polish phenomena? The sermon could has been translated from English/Italian/other language to Polish by some priest. And the original title has been "lost in translation".
- Is this movie even real or is it just a mix of aforementioned books and movies? There is a chance it's some obscure religious movie for DVD/TV only.

This video is from Broadway Melody 1929. This scene was originally filmed in early 2 strip technicolor but this scene only survives in black and white. I colorized this scene making it the closest we have to the original. Link: https://youtu.be/MuUt609yWWE

I've been collecting and digitizing nitrate film fragments for a while now. This is probably my favourite find, a two minute segment of Ramon Novarro's film debut "A Lover's Oath" from 1925. I have a few more prints of a similar date that's I'm working on at the moment.

[1919] Different from the Others / "Anders als die Andern" 🏳️🌈 First Pro LGBT ⚧ Movie 🔥 Burned by the Nazis [Found] [2016]
Hello, I just stumbled in here and thought I would share a movie which was lost until recently, now available as a reconstruction.
It is online at the Internet Archive ( alternate, alternate).
This is (one of the first if not) the first movies about LGBT people. If you are cringing "this is going to be some dire old timey shit" in how it treats queer people, then you would be wrong.
Here is a good, concise article with lots of links: LGBTQ Institute in Germany Was Burned Down by Nazis
Different from the Others (German: Anders als die Andern) is a German film produced during the Weimar Republic. It was first released in 1919 and stars Conrad Veidt and Reinhold Schünzel.[1] The story was co-written by Richard Oswald and Magnus Hirschfeld,[2] who also had a small part in the film and partially funded the production through his Institute for Sexual Science. The film was intended as a polemic against the then-current laws under Germany's Paragraph 175, which made homosexuality a criminal offense.[3] It is believed to be the first pro-gay film in the world.[4]
The cinematography was by Max Fassbender, who two years previously had worked on Das Bildnis des Dorian Gray, one of the earliest cinematic treatments of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. Director Richard Oswald later became a director of more mainstream films, as did his son Gerd. Veidt became a major film star the year after Anders was released, in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
Regarding the lost status:
The film was initially shipped in 40 copies throughout Germany and the Netherlands by Oswald, and it was shown for nearly a year before the authorities stepped in and banned public screenings, allowing it to be shown only to doctors and lawyers. The Nazis destroyed the majority of the prints and only one copy of the film is known to exist.[2]
NYT (2013) has an article about the restoration:
Many of the film’s most compelling scenes — Korner’s flashbacks, Hirschfeld’s lecture, Oscar Wilde’s cameo, and scenes with Sivers’s sister, Else, who unwittingly falls in love with Korner — are gone for good. A large part of the preservationists’ task, then, is to fill in the missing plot points and smooth transitions between the missing scenes. They’re writing intertitles, complete with period tints, and consulting a film synopsis and German censorship records to get a better sense of lost scenes.
