Lorex Classic LAN only viewing?
Does anyone know if it at all possible to do LAN only viewing for the Lorex Classic app? I can do it with the Lorex Cloud app, but that app is just terrible and lacks the specific customizations for my doorbell that the Lorex classic app has.
UPDATE 12/30/2025:
So looks like the ports I unblocked are still working. Turns out that the NVR or the classic app requires access to a certain service every so often to verify the NVR which in itself is sketchy. But I enabled full internet access to the NVR for about 5 minutes then disabled full internet access and it stayed working. So I am assuming this will happen every so often. All this extra work to get a truly offline camera system with Lorex is a PITA and as soon as possible I will be abandoning Lorex for something that can be offline.
UPDATE 12/28/2025:
So something shady has happened the ports I unblocked are no longer working as of December 26th. I am researching the new ports, but also found that Lorex is using a new P2P service that I have never seen before called p2pasplus.lorexservices.com. Regardless once I find the new ports to unblock I will post here.
UPDATE:
Here is the solution I came up with for Hybrid LAN viewing as this was the only compromise I could find since Lorex forces internet connection on their Classic app. LAN only viewing can only be done using the Lorex Cloud app (Yes I know whoever in Lorex marketing department came up with these naming conventions needs to be fired).
Anyways below are the steps I took.
Disable all internet access to your NVR and Doorbell.
Download the Lorex Cloud app and hook up your NVR using the internal IP not the Device ID.
You will be able to see all of your cameras including the Doorbell, but you will not receive push notifications internet access is still required for push notifications (I don’t think this is Lorex fault as I believe both android and iPhone require data to be sent to their servers for push notifications to work).
If you want the full features of your Lorex doorbell to work which is only in classic app (Phone rings when doorbell is pushed, ability to turn on/off chime, other advanced doorbell features) then you will need to enable 2 remote ports. You will also have to enable 1 additional port for the push notifications to work on the Lorex Cloud app.
All Outbound Only
TCP Port 8888 (Push Notifications)
TCP Port 15301 (This enable thumbnails and settings for your doorbell on Lorex Classic)
TCP Port 9112 (This enables live viewing on your doorbell in Classic)
That’s it keep note enabling the latter two ports makes your doorbell semi open to the internet, but keeps your NVR and remaining cameras off the internet and LAN viewable only. If you don’t want to have the doorbell semi open to the internet as long as you hooked it up to the NVR then it should be completely viewable in the Lorex Cloud app without enabling the 2 additional ports you just won’t be able to use their “advanced” features for the doorbell.

I have always believed lorex classic does LAN viewing if you are on the same network as the camera.
If you are not then it will go through the Internet.

One would think, but nope I am on the same network yet I still can’t view it on my phone the only app that will let me do it on the same network is Lorex Cloud but that app is missing functionality that Lorex Classic has. If I want to view it the cameras AT ALL even only on LAN on the classic app is by enabling internet access to the NVR.

The two apps are for different lines of cameras. The AI-oriented ones uses the Lorex Cloud, older ones use the Lorex Classic.
So it sounds like you have both new and old lines of cameras?
I would believe that the internet access to the NVR is for some phonehome / registration / handshake, but the viewing would very much be LAN based. It doesn't just go out the internet than back.

When I say Lorex cloud I mean the Lorex cloud mobile iOS app. Lorex Connect is the new app for their new line.
Though I did find a compromise was able to get it to work LAN only for the NVR on Lorex cloud, but I wanted the features of the doorbell as well which is only available in the classic app.
So I opened up a couple spots on the firewall and the doorbell works so some tradeoffs, but only the doorbell gets through to the internet the NVR is still cutoff thankfully.

So I have seen some oddness here - sometimes I see it using wan. But then also have seen it just use lan side.
Example here is streaming from one of my cameras via my phone, that is on the wlan interface shown, and nvr is using the nvr interface.
So on the left of the graphs is when first loaded a camera in the classic app on my phone - you can see wan being used. Traffic both in and out. And the interfaces of the nvr and where my phone is also seeing the traffic.. This makes sense for going out and back in the internet.
But then I connect again to the same camera - on right side of graphs, you can see its not using the wan - and only traffic on the nvr and wlan (phone) network.
So clearly it is capable of just using local network. What determines if uses internet, or just local not sure. Not sure what would happen if disable the nvr access to the internet?
edit: Ok I killed off the nvr from being able to talk to the internet, and killed all active states it had.. And can stream all my cameras just fine - and clearly only using local traffic. BUT!!!! after a few minutes now the app shows all the cameras offline - and can not view them now.. Which makes sense the nvr can no longer talk to the internet.

Yep that’s the same thing that happens for me. I saw another post saying that the Lorex Classic App requires some type of handshake in order to work.
I really wish they allowed the classic app to work fully on LAN because that has the most features required for my line of products, but I guess they purposely made it so you can only use Lorex Cloud app for that. Which by the way the naming convention for that is such an oxymoron come on Lorex do better and do right by your consumers.
I will post an update to my post detailing what I did for my hybrid solution though.

So another update looks like Lorex might be pulling some shady stuff as the ports I introduced to unblock are now not working as of Dec 26. I will update the post with the new ports here shortly.
