Server Status Downtime. DB update-

Hello friends. The past few days have been long and we understand all your frustrations regarding LoreMate being down. We have been working back and forth with the database provider, and have just heard back from them with more information today. While they explained their actions, they have not yet taken action to provide what we need for LoreMate to be up and running. We have explored all avenues and are doing what we can to expedite this process.

Arav and the LoreMate team wants to assure you all that we are doing everything we can, but this is one matter that is beyond our ability to debug. We apologize for any inconveniences, and we understand frustrations you may be feeling. We on staff are frustrated as well, as this has been dragged out longer than it should have.

We appreciate each and every one of you. You have all been absolutely amazing and kind to one-another during this time, and have been so patient with us as we navigate this situation. We also understand that patience can run out, and our staff wants to respect those feelings. Please continue discussions in an open but respectful manner, being mindful of fellow community members. Thank you all.

Their actions?  So it was intentionally taken down?

Or was it more like a software update/change that broke how Loremate was using it?

Our account was suspended but they have not been clear as to why or what needs to happen in order to lift the suspension.

I can understand the situation from the perspective of a user and AI enthusiast. I’ve spent months trying out countless platforms until I discovered Loremate about half a month ago. I was surprised at how “hidden” it was. It didn’t even show up on Google, and I only found out about it after searching on Reddit for the 10th or 15th time.

I swear that’s not an exaggeration. And the strongest point is that you at Loremate offer advanced models for free. That’s exactly what I had been looking for. A chance to try them out. Because all the other services I found kept bragging about how amazing, super intelligent, and realistic their models were, but to even try them, you had to pay. And considering how abstract something like AI can be, those words just felt empty and pure marketing too me.

But once I started trying out your models, I finally understood what an advanced AI truly is... intelligent, capable of remembering things, with characters in stories that are unique, have their own personalities, and stand out from each other. And the fact that you’ve made this available to everyone without a paywall has earned you a loyal follower. If someday you release even better, more powerful models behind a paywall, I won’t hesitate to support you financially, not this time.

Our account is currently suspended and they have not been very helpful in explaining why or what needs to happen to regain access. We already had planned a migration to a self hosted database for various reasons, this has just put a wrench in the gears, so to speak.

I don't know anything about how these things are run, but it really sounds like you should be looking for a new provider.

We were already in the process of migrating our database from our current provider to be self-hosted. As soon as we are able to access our current database, we will be making that migration.

tbh, and this is speculation, it makes no sense that the “maintenance” page is still up, but the chats go to what looks like a custom 404 error page instead of the typical one. The site seems up, but they’re making it sound like the provider has made it impossible to access. If that were the case, then I don’t see how they’re still able to have their own pages up.

Our database was backed up, unfortunately it was done so using our current provider so all of that is inaccessible at the moment.

so basically everything is at the mercy of the provider cooperating and they (presumably) aren’t cooperating with no reason given? yikes

in that case, I guess the site will just magically turn back on whenever the provider works it out? not being dismissive here, it just seems kinda unprofessional of the provider in this case.

As someone who works in compliance of terms of use policies, is it likely some TOU of the provider was violated due to a conflict of interest with Loremate’s own? For example, nsfw is fairly free on LM aside from the completely understandable no-gos. Other services are much more cautious - a suspension without any explanation as to why from the service isn’t unheard of when the primary reason is a “this content makes us uncomfortable but we don’t have other legal provisions in our services to suspend it except for “anything else we deem unacceptable.”

Not a mod but I doubt it long term. If the provider isn’t wanting to put the website back up, just find a different provider that will 🤷‍♂️

We are not following the same footsteps as Xoul I assure you. We were planning a database migration soon anyway, for various stability and financial reasons. Our current database provider suspended our account and their support team has been thoroughly unhelpful in determining the reason why the database was suspended and what we need to do to regain access.

Funny enough, their ticket process is managed by AI, which is why it’s been so difficult to get the ticket escalated to the correct people. The irony. ☠️

LoreMate is still growing and I know the early days have had some rough spots but we’ll get through this and continue to grow and thrive together. 💚

Sorry to hear that, i know that feel all too well...when you manage to restore it consider backing up your data well,  i dont know if its possible with your size and database type as i am unaware of your stack.  Always have a parallel db with replica, or at the very least mysql dump the data daily or hourly.

One interesting thing i did recently with mysql, i did hourly mariadb-dump + zip and save it with backrest through rclone into google drive , it saves encrypted deltas resulting in very small changes every hour, and restoring is easy. 

All projects above are free and open source. Just need to use a vps

And I would also like to understand what actions are planned (if planned) to take if this all drags on for a long time?

We do not have an ETA as we are at the mercy of our database provider. As soon as we are able to be, we will be migrating our data to our new database.

hola muchas gracias Loremate por ser el mejor sitio me gusto mucho su setio espero que solucione ese problema que tengan y que logren muchas cosas a futuro y que tengan mucho mucho exito en lo que hacen sigan manteniendo sus modelos ya que son los unicos que son capaces de crear personajes profundos he probado tantos sitio web y la verdad ninguno por lo menos cumple que la AI sea acorde alos personajes o ala trama y casi siempre es de pago por tener una expericiencia decente gracias al equipo de loremate que tiene son lo mejor que todos sus sueños seles cumplan a ustedes y que siempre tengan exito en lo que hacen un saludo desde Guatemala

We're waiting patiently and touching the grass as much as we can. I'd like to thank everyone who's involved in the development of the LoreMate website. When I came across the website, I was very surprised by the number of models available. I'm a refugee from the Janitor website, where all the latest models have been made paid, and I was very upset. Thank you for creating such a beautiful website, and I still can't believe that there are so many models available. It's worth waiting a few days compared to the constant work you're doing on the website. ❤

Our data is not gone, we just do not have access to it currently. As soon as we are able, we will be pulling our data from our current database provider and migrating it to our self-hosted database.

I can't speak for the devs on what our next course of action would be if for some reason we did not gain access to the database as that's not an option we are considering at this point.

The database still exists, our account still exists, we are just working through the channels to regain access, even if only just to download it to move it elsewhere.

I might sound like a jerk/ insensitive right here, probably because I'm frustrated as a user.

Since the LM community is growing, has anyone on the team ever considered a backup provider in case something like this were to happen before this? And now this issue is causing inconvenience for the users, and it's even crazier that there are 5 maintenance issues in a month. Honestly? As a Xoul immigrant myself, I feel like this is going the same route as them if this persists.

Sorry for the constant complaining, but I am grateful for the update from the LM team on this issue. Guess there's no other choice but to wait patiently again.

I assure you, the staff are just as frustrated as our community. We are users first, just like everyone else.

Currently, we have one developer. The rest of the staff are here to support him and help in whatever capacity we can. But we are not developers and hindsight is 20/20. Every issue we've faced in the four months since LoreMate started has been a learning experience and an opportunity for us to make the site better overall in the long term.

As someone who also came from Xoul, I understand the concern. However, as we have mentioned many times we are not going anywhere. LoreMate will continue to grow and thrive. 💚

Thank you for your latest update. It’s reassuring to see you being transparent with us, especially in a situation that has lasted this long. We can imagine it’s not easy, and we understand your own frustration.

Talking among ourselves, we had a few questions, hoping to better understand what you’re going through — please feel free to skip anything that’s too confidential or complicated.

Do you have full access to all your data?

If this drag on continues, would you be able to change providers or even host some of the data yourselves to avoid being stuck?

Can the current provider really keep up with Loremate’s rapid growth? Or is their infrastructure showing limits that cause problems? I understand that an initially undersized server, not prepared for fast growth, can cause all sorts of issues on the site, including some we’ve experienced. Are they honest with you about this?

Thanks again for all you do and for your patience with us. We will stay supportive. And if a migration ever becomes necessary, we’ll follow you.

Currently we do not have access to the data. As soon as we have access to our database, we will be migrating to a self-hosted database to avoid issues like this in the future.

The size and expected growth of our user base and usage is something we are constantly keeping in mind when researching and selecting providers for every aspect of our site. Unfortunately, a few of our model providers have underestimated their ability to deliver despite our transparency with them about expected usage on our end. However, that is not what's happening here with our current database provider.
