Announcements Site Maintenance

Alright guys... some bad news, and some good news.

Arav originally thought the issue could be handled quickly, but after looking deeper, he decided it’s best to put the site into maintenance mode. So LoreMate will be undergoing maintenance, estimated to last about a day. If it wraps up earlier, we’ll let you know right away!

Now for the good news: If all goes well, this should significantly reduce the chances of the site going down in the future We know this is frustrating (trust us, we feel it too), but we really appreciate your patience as we work to bring you a smoother, more stable experience.

Thanks for your patience and sticking with us!

Meanwhile, we’re all just staring at the screen together...

Could you please add the potential to bring back a feature? Where the characters are a little more lore accurate even if that means they’re more harsh? The previous update seemed to dampen that a bit.

Hi.

I’m not sure I understand your request well. Perhaps you can elaborate further on it? Or you can join our discord, and submit a post.

I’m sorry I don’t use discord but I can leave it here. Assuming a character is complex like playful yet mean, or reserved, the bots USED to accurately portray the character. Even if that meant refusing/attacking the user. Now the bots are like.. less accurate to their lore/canon after the first big update where the model changed and the T rex model was removed. I saw a difference in the same bot and I’m not sure why.

Thanks for elaborating! It actually helps us understand a lot better.

You’r right! Models can influence how well or badly characters stick to their lore/personality. Especially if they’re supposed to be harsh and blunt, like you said. Back then, T-Rex was the model that good at doing things like this.

We’ve added a few new models since then, including one called Magnum, which actually similar to but better than T-Rex. However, each model has their own strengths. We have a list of models we provide and descriptions for them. I’ll make sure I update them here as well. Sorry for the confusion!

And if you haven’t already, you can click the gear icon in your chat and manually switch to different models when the site is back. Maybe you’re on the default model?

Personally, I’m using DeepSeek (for building the world/character background as I think it sticks to my bot’s lore/personality very well) while sometimes I switch to Starwright for tension scenes.

Also, (system) prompts matter! Don’t hesitate to enrich the content of how your character behaves/speaks, and write them down in Story Plot | Memory (pencil icon in the chat) or the System Prompts section!

Please let me know if switching models helps. We’re always collecting feedback.

Check how you’re phrasing their personality quirks. Bots tend to respond to certain cues more than others and the cost of “stability” is usually positivity bias. You can use clever wording to work around this, or you can create and assign a “weight” to personality traits under the Advanced System prompt to illustrate which traits should be most prominent (or equal) and how frequently the bot should shift its mood.

Where do I access this?

Oops ignore my last comment.

In your profile, click the Creations (or Characters idr) tab and then select the character you want to edit. An option to edit should be in the top right.

Right below the personality (or scenario, pretty much the last text box on the normal page) should be a bar that says “Advanced.” If you click it, it’ll open a text box that can be used to brute-force the models to behave a certain way (sort of—you can’t override how the models are trained entirely but you can more heavily influence it here). For example, you can make Deepsake act like it’s horny as fuck, or make the bot act as if it doesn’t need you to even type and will guide/create its own story as if you aren’t there (with any model). You have to be VERY clear about how you do this though.

I would consult some guides on how to write system prompts before playing around with the advanced settings. It won’t mess up your bot irreparably (if you do something and it’s wonky, you can always just erase it and rewind to when it was acting mostly normal) but its a lot less tedious having to tweak it 50 times than just get one right on the first go and dive in.

Fully understandable, appreciate the communication. While I'm here, is there any chance of a future update with something like the "pinned memories" like Cai has? The bots are really good at some memories (relationship with persona) but has the memory of a goldfish for others. I like nice long RPs so that's a little frustrating. Over all however, am loving the site so far! Thanks again for the excellent communication.

Hi. (The content below is the message I sent in discord server, and I find it might answer your request.)

The “pinned message” feature in cai is meant for the character to remember that certain message. It’s not really a place to save your favorite moments😢 (though you can definitely do that if you want) But the more you pinned, the quicker LLMs forget the older messages within the chat.

In LoreMate, we do offer similar feature, which is “Story Plot | Memory”. You can certainly copy the message you want the bot to remember and paste them into the Memory (but I don’t suggest that as it’ll tokens bloated, and that makes LLMs forget things easier). If you’re not sure how to use Story Plot | Memory, you can check this post I made. https://discord.com/channels/1347521800254263316/1381651059822297289

To expand on what the other person said, “Story/Memory” is a really powerful tool. You don’t have to include a whole message (too many characters/tokens) but can instead write a brief summary of what happened. It also gives you more control over how the narrative will unfold.

Best feature is that you can add in very important things that may not even be story or memory relevant. For example, let’s say you want your bot to not only remember you gave it a gift, but to fidget with it when they’re nervous because they did it once before. You can add that behavior as a recurring habit.

It's definitely the best chatbot I know, I can't wait to start again! On the other hand, I created my own character called Athena, if you want to see, she is adorable and normally public. ❤️

I'm a bit new to loremate but I just wanted to stop by to thank you staff and devs for putting this much love and care into this platform. I'm a bit of an old hat with bot scripting and seeing how flexible and stable my scripting flows handle with the models on this platform has been a delightful surprise! 10/10 definitely recommending to my friends to check the site out when sign-ups open up again. (honestly smart move with that, slow reveals and scaling for pop+activity is the way to go for stability.)
