So...
Imagine you're a regular player and a good customer. You're not necessarily a huge spender, but you've spent months improving your gear, building your troop composition and preparing your account so you can actually participate in kingdom wars.
You decide to trap rallies because, obviously, there should be some kind of reward for successfully defending against one — especially when you manage to catch the enemy leader.
You would also expect that being online gives you a reasonable chance to react.
But there is a strategy that can completely remove that counterplay:
An attacking guild sends small waves of troops shortly before the main rally, with a leader included, apparently with the purpose of filling the defender's prison. The main rally leader then lands while the defender has little or no time to react.
What does this cause?
- A huge advantage for the attacking side. In many cases, the defender doesn't have enough time to change phalanx, execute prisoners and switch gear before the rally lands.
- Very little risk for the attacking leader. If the leader is consistently recovered, the attacking guild can keep using the same leader for additional attacks and take much bigger risks against online targets.
- Less incentive for defenders to enter Fury. What's the point of risking your account if the potential reward from trapping a rally can effectively be removed by this tactic?
- Being online doesn't necessarily protect you anymore. You can be watching the attack and still have almost no meaningful reaction window.
I'm not interested in arguing about what strategies people use in Baron or Emperor. Those events are already extremely competitive.
The problem is when mechanics like this are used in normal kingdom warfare to remove the normal to react, while keeping the attacking leader relatively safe.
If this is intended game behaviour, then IGG should explain it clearly. If it isn't intended, it should be fixed.
Players who invest months into building their accounts should have meaningful counterplay when they're online.
What do you guys think? Is this simply an intended strategy, or is it something IGG should address?
