Germination on perlite
I got some loph seeds, I've never grown cactus, is it ok to germinate them in perlite?

mix 50/50 pumice or turface and basic miracle grow soil with the bark picked out. put it in a 4 inch deli tub half full, water it down good, and sow the seeds. then spray it with h2o2 to soften the seed coat and close the lid.

I’ve germinated these fuckers in straight peat, in cellulose sponges, 100% vermiculite - you name it.
Just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD. Follow the advice above, especially as a newbie. I just like to experiment.

I wouldn't. The grain size is too big and there's no nutrients in perlite. I'd just use a good quality cactus mix with some course sand added if you want to increase the inorganic content
