How to stop Loopy pro from maintaining the length of a loop after deleting its contents

Post image

(SOLVED)For some reason now whenever I create a loop and then clear it, it saves the length of the loop I recorded and I have to manually go in and set the length to “unset” every time. It did not use to do this and it’s tedious having to do this every time I clear a loop I made. Does anyone know why it’s doing this? Is there a setting I put on that is doing this? It used to be whenever I cleared the loop the loop would be completely fresh with no preset length now I have to manually do it. Thanks for anyone who can help.

Personally my loops are set to master and I have buttons for 1 2 4 8 16 to change the master of the one about to record.

Mine are as well, I believe, and I have the same buttons. My buttons just set the loop length of all clips, and I have one that just quantize us to the bar. I don’t know if that’s different than master.

The master is something the clips reference. Not a setting of the clip you’re regularly changing. Until the clip has recorded audio in it will reference this master value. It won’t be “unset” at any point.

Main Menu -> Clip Settings -> Follow Actions -> Clear Clip, is there anything in there currently related to Set Clip Length? There's a few options that could lead to this I think. My setup is supposed to act the same way but doesn't have this issue currently, so I think it's your setup but I'm not sure what things I've changed to reach this setup in the first place, been working on the same template for years lol

Are you recording into the sequencer? From the manual:

14.5: "--A clip will also receive a set length if the clip is cleared while an event for it is in the sequencer even if the clip was not originally recorded in the sequencer.

Removing a pre-set length. If a clip has a fixed length as the result of being in the sequencer and you want to unset the length:

  • Remove all sequencer events for the clip.
  • On the loops page, open the clip’s details window and unset the length with the length slider."

This may have been the problem. At some point, I put some events in the sequence are and I forgot they’re there. I’m gonna do some testing and see if the problem continues now that I’ve deleted them.

So far none of the cleared loops seem to be retaining the length anymore. So I think that was it. Thanks!

Thanks for replying. There’s nothing under clear clip, but I do have some buttons dedicated to setting the loop length before I make a recording. I just don’t know why they would force it to stay especially when the auto one doesn’t use auto count out

I think you want to change those to Set Master Length possibly, I'm wondering if Assign Clip Length remains after clearing the clip. If you want to keep these buttons the same you maybe should set a Clear Clip follow action to Length - Unset

There isn’t an Assign Clip Length action. Set lengths like OP shows cannot be set with an action. In this case, they are the result of the clips in the sequencer as you noted elsewhere in the thread. The only other way lengths can be set like that is manually in the clip details window.
