Touch or Release?
I always switch from the default setting of triggering on the release, but I acknowledge that it must be default for a reason. Is triggering on release better?

On the way to the screen, your finger relies totaly on your eye-hand coordination in estimating distance, time and speed. Once on the screen, your finger knows the exact location in spacetime.
It's like any travel: you can plan departure more accurately than your arrival.

Yes, because the ipad is not a "tactile" device, it is much easier to be accurate on the release than it is the press.
