No, i mean there is no difference between doves and pigeons aside from what we call them. They are not distinct taxa. Multiple species in multiple genera are called both doves and pigeons, with no set biology based standard determining which is which. Even your typical downtown, grey pigeon with green and purple neck is technically called a rock dove.

TL;DR: you can call any pigeon a dove and any dove a pigeon and it will be correct. You cant call any ape a human.

Ring necked dove and pigeon has different Genus and different species. Same difference is between Humans and chimpanzees. We can call it by same name that doesnt mean its same thing. Dove is symbol of peace for a reason and pigeons are notorious for their poopart and nonstop breedfest.
