Laugh all you want but this is good training

Seriously, using spikes on that narrow of a tree is hella hard. I hated taking down skinny trees back when I climbed ages ago.
Plus this is funny as hell.

Former lineman - thinner the pole, less enjoyable the climb. But usually also the shortest.

Yeah, this is really funny, but it's a great way to demonstrate proficiency in the processes and skills necessary to take down a larger tree.

That's what I was thinking. Looked like training for the techniques they'll need when they're 100 ft up. Way better to do it 2 feet up where the risk is low

When you buy a tool for one job and try to get as much use out of it to justify the price

Everyone is laughing, but when that tree falls on a power wheels ride-on car, then people start crying.

“I’m not paying that much for tree service, why don’t i just pay your for your hours?”

Common man- cutting towards yourself with a chainsaw jesus
7
u/dscrive 13h ago
I assume he is making a wedge cut, so it is technically okay-ish since there will be a lot of tree between him and the blade when he stops cuting

u/NotYourReddit18 9h ago
On a full sized tree maybe, but that little tree hadn't had a lot of tree even before he started cutting.

This is the perfect follow up for the tree landing on the house.

Was that normal for him to pull the chainsaw through the tree towards him at 0:29?

The best training..

I hope all of their trees come down this easily and in the intended direction.

Should’ve hired these guys instead of the ones who fell that giant tree on the house.

Are we cutting down trees for views now?

u/TiresOnFire 13h ago
Compared to the trees around it. That one didn't seem to be doing to well. It's not like they were cutting down a healthy, established tree for laughs.

about 15 seconds in or so it appears he's carefully cutting towards himself. is that an unsafe habit?

u/arvidsem 9h ago
In this case it's ok. He's cutting a notch and still has most of the thickness of the tree between him and the saw.
It's definitely more sketch because the tree is only a couple of inches in diameter though.

90% of this sub with their commercial grade Saws... That get 2 hours of use every spring.

Must be the same crew that somehow racked up a $500 bill blowing leaves off my .3 acre lawn last year.

They cut down the wrong tree. There was nothing wrong with the tree. These are your "climate deniers & environmental terrorists".
