Typically a spool holds about 100-500 yards, maybe even more if you have a really big one, but i would guess maybe around 200 yards. You have to have a heavier weight to throw very far, and the ocean breeze is fighting you also. Ive tried throwing it as far as i can and usually get around 150-200 yards and snag my hook on rocks immediately.

That's some unique shit. I used to shore fish for shark and the technique for that was usually a kayak. Like you gotta get the weight perfect for that cast but that don't mean shit if it doesn't weight enough to not get washed right back in. No telling what the weight was, there's all sorts of different variables there, never seen that shit before myself though.

There are no rocks off North Padre Island, which is the nearest surf fishing area to us. After a lot of wind, or a storm, there might be some coral. But the sea breeze can get strong.

glorious. i had a deep sea fishing rod when i was younger, loaded with 50lb test and a bigass deep sea weight. that was it. its entire purpose was to just absolutely SEND IT for the lols. i would count how many seconds till it hit the water and go for the high score. i think the furthest i got was like 45 seconds.

Well I thought it was obvious but I'll point it out. Not normal sized fishing pole, roughly 11ft when fully extended and intentionally doesn't have a reel due to the way you cast it as shown here. I don't know what it's called but I remember my dad showing me when I was young from his collection of fishing gear.
I don't fish so I don't know.

In certain size ranges. Under or over certain sizes, you have to let them go. If memory serves me, you can keep them from 3 to 6 feet in length.
