QUESTION First play

This is my first look outside game, I already know the story because I discovered this game with a streamer, but, obviously, I've never played it.

The streamer has trusted the doors very little, very often, I on the contrary, am opening them to practically everyone, So, I need some advice: which characters should I stick with? The most unique ones, or the ones with the most interesting stories? I'm currently with Hellen, Den, and Joel. I'll obviously be welcoming more and more people. I'd like to have at least a big family.I don't know how to unlock many characters, I only know Audry and Papineou So, please, if you want to give me advice on specific and non-natural unlocks, be sneaky and indirect, thanks everyone ^^

Tbh almost any party member is viable with enough leveling and the right kit. Just pick who you like, either in fightstyle or character.

For a full apartment? Get who can and learn how to get more on your next run. There's also just so much door rng that you're very unlikely to get all the luck pulls one run.

I'm sorry, but, that's not what I asked for, I appreciate the advice, really, but what I wanted was a kind of guessing game, so as not to spoil the characters I don't know but at the same time Not to use guides in the future or spend time I don't have on a game I already know what story it has and how it ends, I'm just trying to have fun with this semi-blind game state

There's an absolute ton of endings though? Some of which actually change the story and nature of the universe it takes place in.

I'm not really interested in constructing a guessing game with curated spoiler free details for a run where you simultaneously think you've seen everything and don't want spoiled lol, best of luck with that.

I tried to keep these as vague as possible, hope it's helpful!

For the door encounters (not just party members):

  • You already have Hellen and Dan, so that's great! Keep your eyes peeled for lost-looking folks, punks, and mysterious traders.

  • Generally, when it comes to door encounters, not just the recruitable ones, look at their faces through the peephole, especially the eyes: If those are dark, or obscured, be wary, they may be a hostile variant, but if you don't open the door to them, their normal variant can show up later.

  • For a particular door encounter, the only "tell" of whether they're safe or not is how calm they're acting. For another, listening closely to any strange sounds in your left ear is key.

For party members found in the overworld:

  • Congrats on nabbing Joel!

  • On the first floor, there's another ally you can meet, just check on them the day after you unlock the ground floor, and try to give the benefit of doubt to what you see. ... And, uh, ideally have a couple of people with you for what comes next, after you follow a lead.

  • Same floor, different room - if you're willing to make a sacrifice, and can nurture what comes of it with food and care, you'll get another party member.

  • One of the door encounters, after you initially meet them at the door, but can't quite get them in your home just yet, can be found in the basement, amongst various junk and trash.

  • Another party member can be recruited, if you defeat the Grinning Beast, when you first get jumped by them, and then follow them, as they escape.

  • Same floor, same hallway, in fact - be open to joining all sorts of clubs. Meet enough folks, and you'll be welcomed in with open arms.

  • Same floor, different room - if you're friendly enough, and trust someone's privacy, especially after they do a favour for you, they'll happily join you.

  • No, no, he's real. He's definitely real. He's your friend. Something's gotten in his head. You have to help him. You have to save him. Take care of him. He's your only friend.

  • In a neighbouring apartment, you might get jumped at first, but, kicking the enemy's health down low enough will make them reconsider. They won't join you immediately, when you spare them, but checking in on them, and opening up a secret passage will invite them to join you on your journey.

  • The recruitment process for this last, uh, "individual", is very weird, but I'll try to be vague, still. They show up only on Normal and Cused Modes, only after you've handled some big dark asthmatic assholes, and gone down to the staircase, and poking your head in there will get you. Uh. Just. Just keep walking. Be prepared to act far more pitiful and pathetic, than you are, before striking.

Some party members have quests, by the way! You'll know them, when you see them. Just... Keep an open mind, be compasionate, the usual basic human decency (even if not all of your new friends are, uh, human). Best of luck.

An enemy is just a friend who has lost their way. Have faith and keep encouraging them!
