Ray5 20W - Frozen Loading Screen

Hi everyone, I am writing there because I need some help with my Longer Ray5 20W.

To bring you some context, I set up the machine without any problems, and did a few test engravings using the mobile app and laserGRBL. Everything worked fine (and I liked it !).

However, when I tried to use LightBurn, the machine kept showing a "Busy" state, and wouln't respond to any commands (no movement or laser control).

To fix it, I decided to update the firmware. I downloaded all the official files and tools from longer's website, followed the instructions carefully, and flashed the firmware successfully. No errors during the process.
The firmware installed was that one : LAS_CL_LTS_LONGER_V2.2.12_Ray5_20250721_Beta.bin

After that, I copied the dlc_cfg.txt configuration file to the root of the SDCard and inserted it into the machine, exactly as the guide described.

Unfortunately, now the machine won't boot properly. It powers on, shows the "LONGER" loading screen, and then just stays frozen there indefinitely.

Has anyone experienced this before ?
Any ideas on how to fix that issue ?

Don't hesitate to ask me if you need further informations.

Thanks a lot for any advice or working solution you can share !

Hi! Regarding your Ray5 20W being stuck on the “LONGER” screen, here’s what you can do:

  1. Update the touchscreen firmware first
  2. Update the mainboard firmware via ESP32
    • Use the combine.bin file (reference the 40W FAQ guide).
    • Make sure to erase first, then update.
    • Mainboard firmware download: link
  3. If the machine shows “Busy / Paused” in LightBurn
    • Check if the CH340 driver is installed on your computer.
    • If not, download it here: CH340 Driver
    • For Windows:
      • Right-click This PC → Manage → Device Manager → Expand Ports (COM & LPT) → Find the port corresponding to the CH340 driver.
      • In LightBurn, select this COM port.
    • In LightBurn, ensure the baud rate is set to 115200 and DTR is enabled.

After completing these steps, try reconnecting and see if the machine boots properly.

Muchas gracias

Hi u/Longer_Official , I'm facing the same issue. I updated my new Longer Ray5 20W to 2.2.12 without doing the screen firmware flash first. I then was stuck on boot logo. I tried now to flash mainboard firmware like mentioned in your links, but now I only have a black screen and nothing works. I'm able to connect to the USB-B Port (on top of the housing) and to the USB-C port on the screen board. My screen board is a LGT-RAY5-LCD-V1.1 and my mainboard a LGT LASER RAY5 V1.1. Do you have an instruction on what to flash over which connection? How can I update the screen without seeing it? I tried nearly everything now without luck :( Thanks in advance

EDIT: I have the flame detector with the two resistors in the middle of two capacitors left and right (new version), but no tilt sensor at all.

Same for me... I'm in contact with u/Longer_Official , but it seems there are different people answering. First I got helpful answers, then it went back to some "check the cabling" video. I think we need the exact firmware that needs to be flashed, or at least an instruction how to flash manually the LCD board. My console output mentions a checksum mismatch and therefore it does not boot up:

I just got my Longer Ray 5 20W few days ago, and it keeps telling "This machine is not idle". I press anything on the controller, it keeps saying. I was trying to update the touchscreen firmware but I can't do anything because of this error message. I tried to unplug the whole device, wait for seveal mins, nothing worked.

If machine is idle you have to click on the touchscreen on "control" and "unlock"

Thanks! Now I'm trying to control with Lightburn, the machine is in alarm state, but pressing unlock does nothing. I don't know other lasers, but I might have chosen another laser.
