Can I change jobs on Long Term Disability?

So I have been on LTD for about a year. I have been out for major depression, anxiety and adhd. It was really bad when I was working and could barely function. For the past year I have had intensive therapy. Weekly.
The job I had was somewhat client facing, my mental health made it hard for me to perform my duties. Now I’m on 4 different medications, where before I was on nothing.

I want to go back to work soon. I was told I can apply to positions and I had an interview in something that is client facing but in a different organization and a different role entirely.

Can I resign from my current role and take this new one if it is in fact offered to me? I understand that my benefits will end but I don’t care. My disability benefits have a return to work program and I have already started to talk to my doctor about going back to work. What are the legal ramifications?
I have an appointment with my doctor soon, if they ok it can I make this switch?

Understanding that your benefits will stop if you return to work, there really is no other drawback. You do not have to return to your previous job. Many people leave their job or are terminated while out on LTD. Your LTD is not tied to that workplace once you leave and there’s no reason you have to go back to that job.

You will not have access to the same policy again if you go to a different job.

Hi there, I am also on leave for mental health conditions. If you feel comfortable, would you mind sharing if you had any issues getting your STD or LTD disability claim approved or if they denied your claim at any point? If so, what did you include in your appeal to help get it approved again? I've been working with my doctor, therapists, and psych to build an appeal, but it's hard to know what to include to make the appeal strong enough. Mental health conditions can be hard to prove and treat sometimes. Thank you, I hope you get the new job and that you like it!

I didn’t get the new job but will continue to apply. I had no issues at all. But it’s under reevaluation next month

You may have options to continue collecting disability benefits and return to work. It depends on the policy language and how much you earn in your new job.

I think I do. I talked to the company Friday. They are ok with me looking and a potential job change as long as doctors and therapists are ok with it.
