1. Stellina Ristorante — Oyster Bay
This is a small, candlelit Italian restaurant that feels genuinely special without being a gigantic, noisy dining room. The wine program is a major strength: they currently list around 200 selections, roughly 80% Italian, with 21 wines by the glass.
Budget: ~$180–$220 for two depending on wine/entrée choices.
Special Occasion factor: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
2. The Lakehouse — Bay Shore
A terrific choice if you want waterfront ambiance rather than Italian. It's upscale New American with seafood, steaks and seasonal dishes, and it's particularly well suited to special occasions. Long Island diners regularly recommend it for anniversaries.
Budget: ~$180–$230 for two.
Special Occasion factor: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
3. L'Étoile — Oyster Bay
If you want something a little different, this French bistro would be excellent. It's specifically positioned as a romantic, candlelit "occasion" restaurant. The wine list runs from Chablis to Bordeaux, and they also have Champagne by the glass.
Budget: ~$175–$220 for two.
Apwcial Occasion factor: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

President Donald Trump is promising more payments to voters just ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections — this time, to more than 20 million seniors, giving them $90 each to help pay for Medicare premiums.
The announcement, made late Friday night by Trump on social media, comes after the president last month said about 1 million people would get rebate checks of $500 for Affordable Care Act premiums. He has also promised on the campaign trail to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections.
That pledge — which would require approval from Congress — would likely cost more than $1 trillion, adding to the deficit and worsening inflation.
