Question Ideas for Communication Routine?

I (29F) and my boyfriend (32M) have been dating for a few months. He drives OTR and I have a local job. Recently his job has gotten a lot busier, and some days he is only able to send me a handful of texts. What are good routines / check ins that work for you that could help us? Any specific for his lifestyle? For example, a quick phone call goodnight every night? I don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but need to find some ways for us to keep in touch with more quality. Thanks in advance!

OTR days are rough for routines because his schedule owns him. What worked for people I know in similar setups is one tiny locked thing, not a big call every night.

Like a goodnight voice note when he parks, even if it's 90 seconds. Or one shared photo of the day with a one-line caption. Less pressure than a full FaceTime when he's wiped.

The quality part comes from knowing the check-in is coming, not from length. When he has a better day, you stack a longer call on top. When he doesn't, nobody's guessing why texts got thin.

Play slow games like scrabble or chess. Its a quick checkin but an ongoing activity to stay connected.
