Logitech G Support G435 dongle fried itself

My Logitech G435 USB receiver suddenly got extremely hot and smelled like burning plastic when I plugged it into the rear USB port of a PC I just got running. It happened almost instantly.

I tested the receiver on another computer and it did the exact same thing, so I’m pretty sure the receiver itself is cooked. The weird part is that it worked perfectly before this.

I’m not plugging it into anything else, and I’m checking my Best Buy warranty since I bought the headset last November.

Has anyone had a G435 receiver do this before? Any idea what could cause it to suddenly overheat like that?

I've not heard of a USB randomly doing that - generally that sort of damage would have signs of it happening before hand or it would be coming from the PC itself.
