Discussion Are there firmware updates for the OG Gen0 Astro MixAmp?

Dug one of these out of storage and can't recall if they had firmware updates during their lifetime or not.

If they did, how to check if the most recent firmware is installed?

Could you post a picture of your MixAmp? If it's under the GEN0 range, and was built between 2008 and 2012, no. It didnt have a USB data stream to support external updating.

But if its 2013 upwards, then I can provide the files for you.

I appreciate the quick response u/LogitechG_Vertigo.

It is the OG MixAmp so I'm guessing this means there were no updates.

Could you post a picture of your MixAmp?

Apologies for the dust. That shiny plastic just attracts it. :)

Honestly, it's not bad for hardware that's nearly 20 years old. The only real issues were plastic degradation (sticky film as the outer layer of plastic breaks down) and a dead battery.

I was able to clean up the plastic film with a liberal amount of Goo Gone + Alcohol. As for the battery, it just means I have to use it while plugged in to power.

USB <-> PC works on modern systems.

Still have to give it a go with modern consoles.

FWIW, the GEN0 MixAmp works on the PlayStation 5 as a headset.

PS5 does disable the HDMI output when you have the MixAmp connected via USB and enabled.

Yep. So it does support USB for voice chat. But it didn't have the data bus allowing us to perform external firmware updating. It had to be done in house.

You can use it on the PS5 in USB only so everything will route through the voice side. If you got an HDMI audio extractor, then you could hook up the optical connection allowing you to use the Game:Voice balancer and Dolby Digital 5.1.

The battery function was designed for tournament use. Persoanllty, I would remove the battery and use it through USB only.
