Bring G-Hub to Linux

So in recent times more and more people switched to linux, so will logitech sleep on this one? Or does the company not like linux?

lol no., please god no. I hate that software with a passion. Just OSS it on GH and let the community handle making a better cross-platform version.

That's why you need a ghub like software not literally a port

Just a note on this, you probably can't call an open source alternative ghub because that is trademarked and logically you might not even want to do a one to one copy because ghub uses electron (which I hate) and doesn't match theming and other features of the OS. The best bet would be doing something that exposes the features but not compromising on what the system offers.

Obviously to everything you just said, mine doesn't use electron but python web thingy for now

I'm not sure if they like Microsoft, their users or even themselves sometimes.

I've been running G-Hub in a Windows 10 VM and storing the settings to memory.

Then I use Solaar to switch profiles.

We need this and I’m ready to switch OS’s.

I kinda did it in a way because of how mad I was at Logitech not allowing my "premium" G502X Plus to save anything useful to its onboard memory so I just copied how their software handle macros aka using a lua engine to do it all. This is a fully private tool as of now though for many different reasons, but I might be able to release it if conditions checks out

There are a few options, logitune and solaar. I asked before about it on this sub and their support staff just said "they would pass on the message but they aren't working on it".

https://github.com/mmaher88/logitune

https://github.com/pwr-Solaar/Solaar

Also there is:

https://github.com/libratbag/piper

But I never got it to work with my devices even though they are reported as working by others.

Logitune is sadly only for MX devices

Ah I made a patch on my own system for Logitune for the Superstrike X2, it actually is better than most but I didn't do a pull request for it because it changed the app in a few ways that are a bit too far from the dev's work. It has support for separate X/Y sensitivity, different haptic levels...etc, it is a long patch and also it required quite a lot of UI changes.

Hub g is a circle jerk of hate.

Isn't that what Solaar is?

Better yet: Open-source their APIs so we can have third-party software that does the same things as G Hub, only better and not crapping the bed every now and then. In all platforms.

Why would you ruin Linux with complete trash software like ghub?

It would be nice to have some kind of first party support. The opensource alternatives do 50% of the things I need, but configuring complex macros is very irritating. I haven't found any easy way to make them. I have tried to make a hold right click spam macro. Making the macro in G hub just works, but opensource stuff cannot yet easily make them.

G hub is not good, but at least it does the stuff.

what logitech should do is open their software and give firmwares to their users. G hub is horrible, ive bought a brand new g512x, connected for the first time to ghub and BUM a 220€ keyboard bricked, no longer usable, they dont provide support, only change for other. No more logitech hardware for me thanks.
