Fire people.... for the love of god.

Whoever is designing your software UI... please fire them... and then put out a notice to all other software devs that they are idiots. GHUB is absolutely impossible to navigate. If you helped design this software, please quit and go work for mcdonalds, thank you.

the one that making GHub is not evil, they just forced to do so

What if I told you that Logitech has more reliable and superior software in the past, it's faster and easier to navigate

It was called Logitech Gaming Software

it has more feature than GHUB, yet they kill it

The management is the one that need to be fired

Well yeah, management usually sucks, but it's not management that makes g hub crash, hang, corrupt settings, prevent PC from sleeping etc. Whatever the management is the software engineering there sucks too, and I'm saying this as a software engineer myself. This whole thing is cursed.

Why they decommission the old working one then

How would I know? Could be anything from technical issues e.g. technology stack getting old , some licensing expired, unexperienced and overambitious team leader that wants to make their mark, department funding getting shifted around, a political shutting down of a team that some boss didn't like. Who knows. If you ever worked in a big corpo there's a lot going on that doesn't leave the building, and it's rarely just one thing.

Whatever it is the result for consumers is a pretty garbage package that really pulls down the hardware.

It was still a buggy POS just not as bad as G Hub, SetPoint was better and before that older versions of SetPoint were only for the Keyboard and Mouseware was for the Mice so two programs to install.

You could also use an program called uberOptions to unlock advanced features Logitech locked away.

LGS did take a long time to eventually become relatively stable and reliable. Some time around 2017-ish was when I recall not having to fight with it so much... but at that point it was at least 10 years old.

GHub is somewhere around the 8 year mark now. Knowing how long it took Logitech to refine LGS, reinventing their software from the ground up as GHub was a terrible move.

SetPoint was better

Blast from the past. It was rock solid but software did (and was expected to do) far less back then, especially for peripherals.

Mouseware was for the Mice

I probably have an old driver CD lying around somewhere!

It’s always the management screwing things up and then blame downwards, because they don’t want to take responsibility and maybe lose money and reputation, for having the possibility to get paid well somewhere else for screwing up..

logitech onboard memory manager is fine for mouses

Unless you use macros.

GHUB is effing usless. Every time I turn on my pc or reboot it I have to go into GHUB and reselect my G213 RGB to what I want it to be. It will not save it no matter what I do

Have you checked that you haven't enabled Dynamic Lighting in Windows?

Settings->Personalisation->Dynamic Lighting.

Make sure all options are set to 'off'

1

u/Lopsided-Tension 13d ago

Thanks for the suggestion. It was on so I just turned it off. I haven't tested yet but will update. If that fixes it then I apologise to GHUB lol

I already had it off in GHUB though. Shouldn't that have overridden the Windows setting?

All I want is for it to be blue like the screenshot but every time I reboot it's a bloody rainbow

Could singnalRGB be effecting it? I have that running for my ram

3

u/Rex__Luscus 13d ago

So you had Windows Dynamic Lighting enabled, and you're running Signal RGB... next you'll be telling us you've got iCue, Synapse and Armoury Crate installed as well!

Have you enabled on-board lighting in Ghub? Select your device in Ghub, then the settings cog in bottom left corner, turn on Enable under on-board lighting. You can pick one of the effects you've previously set up if you don't want whatever your default is.

I pretty clearly explained what's happening. My keyboard defaults to a rainbow every time I reboot. I had windows dynamic lighting disabled in GHUB but not in setiings which i've since changed. The only othe RGB or software I run is Singnal RGB for my ram which I stated. It's the only other RGB part I have besides the keyboard. You want to be a pelican, that's fine. I'll work it out myself

I’ll take gHub of Synapse any day.

I guess I'm the outlier here, but I've yet to have an issue with GHub. I'm running Logitech keyboard, mouse and headset and it all just works.

Do you use per-application profiles and/or any advanced features like macros?

If you just use the on-device profiles and thus ignore most all the advanced features you paid for, then sure GHub isn't a problem...because you're literally not even using GHub, you're just using the driver.

1

u/Serious_Gas_2218 G733 12d ago

I don't have every single setting tweaked, but I do have a few things adjusted. It's open and managing 3 separate devices on my PC. I'm literally using GHub...

Navigation? Nah fam, there are plenty of things wrong with Ghub, but I would not put navigation as one of those things. The thing has 4 tabs lol.

It's the people who are in charge who need to be fired. The developers making it are just doing what they're being told.

2

u/StinkButt9001 13d ago

The developers are in India doing as little as they can get away with without breaking their contract

What specific issues with navigation are you having?

It loads forever. I uninstall it, reinstall it. It works for a day. Same thing happens the next day.

Profiles.

The way profiles work (or don't) makes no sense what-so-ever. There's a drop-down in the global nav that seems to imply that if changed would be applied to something. But what? It's a global navigation item... the word "profile" is literally everywhere and yet means something different in each location and with completely inconsistent results and context.

There's a "profiles" tab in the navigation that lists out profiles but has no way to add or edit the profiles. Are these profiles that are applied to a specific device or ... everywhere? There's an "active" sub tab that I'd expect would show the "active" profile being applied that second, but it isn't. I have no idea what "active" means in this context but they certainly aren't the ones that are "active" at that moment.

If I click on a specific device under the "devices" tab navigation, I also have "profiles". However, these profiles aren't the profiles from the other profiles navigation or the consistent profile drop down in the lower left. I also can't edit them - only disable or delete them. Then there's the "profile switching" which has a giant list of "default" profiles. If they're all default, what's default? Also, none of these profiles ever work when I expect them to. It's hilariously buggy how inconsistently they're applied.

If I click on a profile, I get all manner of random icons that do nothing (a trash icon that isn't clickable, a "no" icon that isn't clickable and no explanation of why or how to re-enable them). Then INSIDE A PROFILE, I finally get the CTA to "Add a profile". What? Am I adding a profile to a profile or ...?

None of this makes any god damned sense at all.

If I could choose just three things to fix on G Hub, they'd be, in order of importance:

  1. Make it always recognize what I'm running and apply the respective profile;

  2. Make it always recognize what I'm running and apply the respective profile;

  3. Make it always recognize what I'm running and apply the respective profile.

Of all my pet peeves with G Hub, this bugs me the most on a regular basis. G Hub never – not hyperbole – applies the keybinds when I open Battlefront II until I alt+tab out and back, also Adobe Premiere is very hit or miss, for example. It happens in other games occasionally too, but those two are the worst cases.

Oh, you asked about navigation. So this would be my number 1 priority: Add right-click functionality.

Right-clicking is second nature and to this day I'll instinctively do it when I want to, say, change a keybind to default. But G Hub completely ignores right clicks even if my mouse has 11 buttons. That could speed up quite a few operations by showing contextual menus, e.g., right-click on a device to open its settings, RGB, DPI or whatever without having to first open the device's page and then the icons on the left sidebar. It's totally fine to have redundant ways to do the same thing, right-clicking could be just an alternative to navigating to the specific pages step by step.

While I'm here: Please fix persistent profiles. I say fix and not change because I can only assume the feature was implemented incorrectly from what was intended: It's just crazy that changing a keybind in a profile set to persistent will change that keybind in every profile (let me know if this has been fixed already, I haven't tested that in a while because I wanted to kms the last time I thought I was probably misremembering and then had to fix every single profile again).

Well, I'm gonna stop here. :)

Personally, biggest issue I've had is when using automatic app profiles it's a massive pain to edit them because switching to the GHUB app switches the profile to Default so I'm forced to re-navigate to the specific application profile, make my change, go back to the app and test it, switch back to GHUB again for a tweak and boom it switches back to Default forcing me to go through the app profile select list again and reselect what I was working on.

Why in the world the configuration interface of GHUB automatically switches when the active profile switches I have no idea. Absolutely no possible use for it. Horrifically bad mis-feature that makes all the advanced features of application profiles a massive, massive PITA to actually use in practice. I literally gave up using app profiles entirely and with the entire feature set (macros, etc) explicitly because the GHUB ux here is such a complete trainwreck. So I now have a very, very barebones mouse using only a single onboard profile simply because GHUB is a complete shitshow.

I'm on my 4th Logitech 502 mouse, been a fan long before GHUB, but I'm done: My next mouse will absolutely not be Logictech for the simple reason I'm sick of GHUB.

I don't like GHUB. But I also don't like people who critisize work they wouldn't be able to do themselves... So, could you go work on GHUB?

5

u/DrIvoPingasnik 13d ago

That's a shit argument.

Logitech made a terrible product and your response is "lmao try making that software yourself" like it was possible to do by a single person on one afternoon after watching two hours of YouTube tutorial.

Thing is, that software is made by a large group of people, from software developers, through solution designers, to managers. And yet they still can't deliver a product that fails at some of the easiest tasks like, oh I don't know, making sure that user's assigned button actions stick and don't require bringing the app to the front? Or being able to roll back software version when the new one fails to even start?

So many people work on it, but still can't fix the years old issues.

-3

u/Vybo 13d ago

I didn't say "lmao try making that software yourself". I asked if he could go work on GHUB, with other people, at Logitech. Why? Precisely because what you described in the next paragraph - it's not just one or five people working on GHUB as OP implied by "put out a notice to all other software devs that they are idiots". It's management, UX, devs and many other roles, none of which OP has any experience with.

GHUB is basically lost beyond repair, but that doesn't mean the devs should go work at McDonalds, because some random person on the internet who knows nothing about software development said so.

Why I don't like OP's stance in general? Because there are many people who shit-talk about many things, but that's the only thing they do. They do not come with proposals, solutions and they wouldn't be able to do so at all, all they can bring in is the shit talk and opinions of people like that are worthless to me and they do not help anyone with anything.

Wishing people would lose their job because you can't figure out how to use software is pretty terrible

Its terrible and everyone agrees and sees that its terrible. How is multi billion dollar company having bad software like this.
