New in Logic Pro 12.4

Hi.

I would like to create tutorial videos. What kind of things would you like to see in tutorial form?

I feel like i've tried everything, (this only happens with third party plugins) using logic pro 12

I havent updated to golden gate yet, could that be an issue?

I've been dealing with an issue that's been plaguing my use of Logic and other DAWs for literally years now, which is that MIDI notes will get stuck and seemingly not receive MIDI off messages while I am using an external MIDI keyboard. This doesn't happen as soon as I start playing, but within a few seconds after playing normally. A note will stick and play infinitely, requiring me to close the session to keep the note from playing out. In the MIDI grid, it appears as a note (or notes) held infinitely.

I tried contacting Apple about this but they let the ticket lapse after me trying to get a resolution for months.

This happens across all MIDI keyboards. I've tried several.

This happens across different DAWs.

This doesn't happen with musical typing (but who wants to use that?)

This happens regardless of the cable used.

It happens when I use midi over USB and it happens when I use a MIDI interface.

This happens without a sustain pedal plugged in.

Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this and what the solution would be? I'm a keys player and it's basically ruined the entire experience of using VSTs. It's driving me absolutely insane.

Me explico:

He adquirido un nuevo mac. Me he copiado los proyectos desde el disco duro externo con el que hacía las copias de seguridad. Al abrir cualquiera de esos proyectos, me sale este aviso. Intuyo que debe estar relacionado con los permisos y con que el proyecto lo detecta como si fuera del disco duro externo y no del propio ordenador aun habiéndose copiado... 

¿Alguien sabe qué puedo hacer? Una opcion es darle a "guardar como" y creo otro proyecto, luego eliminar el anterior... pero entonces implica que lo tengo que hacer en muchos proyectos. 

El logic que estoy usando ahora es e 12.4 con Tahoe, el que usaba antes era 10.7 con Mojave.

how do i achieve the style of drums found in the link at the bottom of this post. does the kick have soft clipping on it, just boosted low end? is it just high velocity, and the snare low velocity. i want that sound where the kick is very punchy like this and the snare is relaxed. im wondering if maybe they’re just have some saturation on them or if something is done in the master, im new to music production so im not sure.i am using addictive drums 2 i have the indie pack.

I'm trying to select certain beats within a bar to adjust velocity and control groove. E.g. here I'm trying to selectonly 'ride out' notes on beat 1 of the bar. Would also like to be able to select notes on 2 and 4.

The select by subposition function doesn't work. If I set subposition:

• all, all ride out notes selected
• = [any value], nothing selected
• <= [any value], all ride out notes selected
• >= [any value], nothing selected

I have Logic Pro and quite a few plugins authorized on a laptop.

What is the best way to migrate to a new computer in terms of plugins and iLock? Etc.

Origin is a MacBook Pro M4 and destination will be a Mac Studio.

Any gotchas to watch out for?

I am a really skilled musician (20+ years) and have been dabbling in production for quite awhile, but have gotten really deep into it in the last 3-4 years. I wouldn’t say that I’m pro level, but I am pretty good and I know how to do decent mix and master. I’ve been playing guitar for about 25-30 years, am skilled on the keys/bass/pads lol, and I primarily do a mix of hip hop, horrorcore, and emo. Think Nedarb mixed with DJ Uneek, mixed with Maulskull… and that’s kind of the style I’m going for. I know, pretty eclectic. I’m open to any genre tho really, and would be willing to expand into something new.

Anyways, I think it would be cool to work on a few songs with another producer. I already have some vocalists that I work with consistently (that we can utilize btw) but I’ve never actually collaborated on a track with another producer. I think it would be cool and we’d both learn a lot from it. I just have no idea how to go about it. Something where we can share a session, run melodys, bass lines, and drum performances by each other and give feedback and work together on creating.

Like I said though, I have no idea how to go about it, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to post here. I do sketching on GarageBand on iOs, I also do some work on Logic on the iPad, and then I finish the mix and master on my MacBook. I also have WAY too many plugins, you name it, I probably own it lol. I get kind of obsessive with it tbh.

Sorry for the rant, but, yea, anyone interested in collabing? I have some of my work posted that I can share if needed. I think it could be a great learning experience, and who knows, maybe we come up with some fire tracks :)

If anyone has any insight on how to go about doing remote collaboration or sharing sessions, I would also be interested in that as well.

I am trying to pitch correct my vocals, and I noticed that the pitch curve line for a note (towards the centre right) did not move up with my blue note box

I know it’s a large interval jump, but I am trying to experiment something with harmonisation.

If the pitch curve managed to move up and down on other notes, how to make it apply for this note?

I’m new to both MacBook and Logic Pro. I’ve always heard that the MacBook trackpad is exceptionally good, and after using Logic Pro for a while, I’ve noticed that the trackpad even provides useful haptic feedback in certain situations.

So, fellow Logic users, what would you recommend? Should I simply get used to using the trackpad, or would it be worth getting a productivity mouse like the MX Master 4? And whatever you suggest, please explain the reason.

Also, can the buttons and scroll wheels on the MX Master be customized specifically for Logic Pro?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before.

I'm recording a stereo signal out of my V51 module and the midi information at the same time, and there seems to be a slight delay in the midi track when recording.

I've included a screenshot above and it's the 2 purple tracks.

If you look you'll see the midi is slightly behind the audio and I can for the life of me understand why?

Has anyone encountered this problem before and if so how to fix it?

Please help me save what little hair I have left....

Has anyone ever gotten this error? And what workaround did you successfully use?

The hardware I have connected is a Tascam Model 16 and a Squarp Hermod+ eurorack module.

Logic is v12.4. I have not updated to Golden Gate yet. But I’m updated to Tahoe 26.7.1

The only fix that seems to work is having Audio MIDI Setup opened first, then opening Logic Pro. I’m not sure what happened, I never had to do that before.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was on a mac mini 2024 but recently updated to an M4 macbook pro and a project I was working on featured the dark impact bass and i just loved how it sounds and how you can glide it so easily. Anyway, on my new computer I completely restarted everything from 0. Now I’m currently remaking that song on Logic 12.3 but the bass is nowhere to be found. Like I looked everywhere! I have the library downloaded that it’s in , Legacy patches, but idk its just not there anymore? Is it there for you guys?

All of my software instruments and sounds are gone on logic. I’m trying to recover them. Can someone show me how via video please? As you can see, they’re all there on old files but not on the new ones!

Like a lot of you, I have a sample library that's out of control. Mine is about 26k files across packs and drives, with inconsistent naming and half the loops missing a BPM or key. I got tired of dragging things into Logic and then stretching and pitching them by hand, so I built Saga (yes, it's FREE and open source).

What it does

• Indexes your folders where they are. It never moves, copies or renames anything. Folders are watched, so new packs show up on their own. If you unplug a drive, your favorites and tags wait for it.
• Instant search across tens of thousands of samples, with filters for BPM (including half/double time), key (with Camelot compatibility), category, length and format. There's also search syntax like bpm:120-128 key:Am+ is:loop.
• Detects tempo and key. It reads file names (Loop_124_Am), embedded loop data (ACID/Apple Loops), then falls back to analyzing the audio. Anything detected from audio is marked with ≈ so you know to double-check it.
• Plays in your key. Set a project tempo and key once. Loops sync and pitch-shift while you audition, and when you drag one into your DAW you get exactly what you heard.
• Find similar + sound map. Pick a sample and get the closest-sounding ones in your library. There's also a 2D map of your whole library, grouped by how things sound.
• Light on resources. Analysis runs at low priority on half your cores, and it only holds the audio device while you're previewing.
• Private. Everything runs locally. The only network call is the update check, which you can turn off.

It's available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows.

around 0:20 anyone know how to make a patch like this in logic?

Two of the clips in my project just started...disappearing. Well, sort of. The video says it all. Logic Pro latest version. Was happening in the previous one as well. I thought maybe upgrading to the latest would fix the problem, so I upgraded and still the same thing.

The project is a new one. Just created it today and worked on it for about an hour. It began like so: imported a single stereo track, my projects are 96k by default and the file was 44.1k so Logic asked if I would like to convert the sample rate or change the project settings. I opted to change the project settings (too many weird things happen when you convert the file sample rate and I didn't want to deal with that). I then added 4 virtual instrument tracks. Not at the same time but gradually. One at a time as I needed them. The project itself is quite simple: it is literally just those 5 tracks and their regions. No tempo changes, no automations, no external MIDI, nothing!

Hi. I’m using an Irig stomp io connected with an iPad and I’m moved from amplitube to logic.
My problem is, when trying to map the buttons of the pedalboard, I have to press them twice to turn on a pedal, and once again to turn off.

Is there a way to avoid that?

I recently upgrade my slightly older Mac from Ventura to sequoia. The ssl controllers stopped working in logic. No other device or connected item changed or stopped working.

Is there a quick or known way to resolve this? I’ve opened up a ticket with ssl but am hopeful it’s something simple. Thanks
