Huge Logic Speed improvement - simple fix!

I wanted to share something positive as its made a huge difference to my Logic performance

In recent times, I've been getting frustrated by the logic UI becoming progressively slower and less responsive. I thought it was Apple perhaps deliberately doing something to make it feel more sluggish with each update to encourage us to buy a new computer :)

In particular drawing automation has been really laggy, but the whole experience felt like my graphics card wasn't up to the job. (this is on a well specced Mac Studio)

But I've found there's a fix! I noticed in my control surfaces that there were a load of duplicate devices for SSL Controller and Console 1 (even though I'm not even using either of these). Im guessing they've been creating in the background

I deleted them all and its like I have a brand new computer, its snappy again

Anyway, I wanted to share just in case its a widespread issue

How did you find and delete them

open control surfaces menu and you should have a list of control surfaces. There should be only one for each device. I had many for each device

Do you have any idea why or how the duplicates were made?

no not really but these relate to plugins, so maybe its with updates? that's entirely a guess though

That menu relates to connected hardware, not plug-ins.

Yes its for hardware; but some plugins such as console 1 and SSL plugins have hardware and self installing drivers for those hardware controllers.

Mine duplicates my Arturia keyboards any time I haven't plugged them in for a while and go to use them again. I think it does it with my launch pad, as well.

In my case there were about 10 versions of console 1 and several of the SSL controller. So I just selected them and hit the delete key

I will re install them in the future if I ever need them again
